Right way to get 50 more from my ss car?
I have a;
2011 Callaway ss 606
I need more. I am afraid of gaining horse power and losing tq. I also want to keep as much reliability as I can. I don't want to create problems.
Tuners tell me to go down a pulley size and retune. I have seen here on the forum many of the ss cars have headers. Is that the way to go? I am also plan on doing a catch can. My intake floods with oil. Do I need to go up on pulley size? (Ribs)
I am new to this ss stuff and appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance
Robin

well you can stay very dependable on the ls3 with 9-10 PSI and making 650+ RWHP. we do it everyday.
Pulley down
FI cam
Headers and mid section will get you to that point and drive the same as it does right now really but just be TONS faster :-)

Thanks for the answer.
If I do the cam do I need to do,springs retainers and rods! Rockers?
2 7/8 headers with 3 collectors or will that drop my tq to much?
Thanks,
Robin

Depends on whether you have a catch can and how the system is setup. It is not unusual to have a fair bit of oil in the intake if you're not running a catch can of some sorts and are using the intake as a vacuum source for the crankcase.

Drop the pulley size .2", add long tubes, and retune. That will net you 50+ rwhp and probably more than 50 tq. You won't have low tq issues. Pulley down and the extra power shows up everywhere.
Other option is a cam swap, pulley swap, long tubes, and tune....but that is big bucks. You'll need cam, springs, pushrods, and a small bucket of $'s for labor. Rocker arms are fine unless you go completely ape$hit on the cam.

Thanks for the answers.
A catch can will take care of the oil. I think I have read that it's a well known issue.
Soooo I still need to know what size headers. I am thinking 1 7/8 to 3 inch collectors. The car has an after market exhaust that is 2.5 inches. Does that need to go for a 3? Would I need more than 6 ribs?

1.875" headers would be my choice. Cat or catless mids (your choice) leading back to the mufflers you have now would be fine. No need to obsess over 2.5" vs 3" at your proposed power level. 6 ribs are good as long as you size the belt right.

Thanks everyone.
1 7/8 header to 3 inch ceramic ordered.
Tunnel insulation ordered
Mid pipe 3 inch ordered
Renflex gasket ordered
Plug boots ordered
Totally stainless header bolts ordered
Working in something for that ac line on pass side to keep I it cool.
After header work I am going to pick a dyno tuner and let them install new pulley and check over the others and do a tune and catch can.
