Just pulled plugs and cylinder 1 plug is much darker (carbon) and wet (oil)....thoughts? Going to do a compression/ leak down test and see.....also going to boroscope it to see what's up....hopefully

Would look to valve seal or guide. Are they stock heads and springs ?

Yes stock. Doing a BTR spring, retainer and pushrods upgrade soon.....will that help or does it need new seals? Hoping not a ring land issue?

Tough to say. Do the tests like you mentioned and see how they look.

Compression test results...

* do all these plugs look dark?* all cylinders held pressure reading great....too big of a variance?

Hopefully it's something simple. Maybe a dirty injector(s)?

Put new plugs in,reinstalled plug wires and coil packs....now having a constant misfire.....car was running smoothly/great before we pulled plugs and was unaware of any issues til we looked at plugs. Now car is running like crap! Re-inspected all connections.....where to now??

I have heard that the coilpacks and or wires can be sensitive. Apparently it's easy to break them. So it could be a bad connection due to minor damage during the removal and reinstallation.

The plug wire lead (coil end) on #7 cylinder was pushed in some and had to manually manipulate to make it work....
Going to buy a cheap set of plug wires tomorrow (when I get off duty) to just troubleshoot the issue.....before buying a really good set if that is the problem

My vote is that one of the wires failed after they were pulled the first time. I changed mine over to the firecores 5.0 due to the lack of consistency when removing and reinstalling the oem ones.

Btw, it looks like you have a failed valve seal. Not a big deal since you're planning to replace valve springs but just make sure you order the correct seals that fit with the aftermarket springs.

So the valve seals can be replaced from the top without having to pull the heads? I don't know much about working on cylinder heads.

Yes, you buy an adapter to screw into the spark plug holes and hook shop air hose to it to pressurize the cylinder you're working on and hold the valves up when you remove the locks and springs. then a good pair of 90° needle nose pliers grab the old seal move it side to side while pulling up and it will come off. use a socket to tap the new ones on. it's time consuming but a pretty easy task. also make sure to soak the new seals in oil for 24 hours. there are several youtube videos of how to do it.

Would painting the coil packs cause a grounding issue, therefore causing a misfire?

**found problem! Was a loose connection on #3 cylinder injector**

*update* pulled plugs again after 200+/- miles and #1 cylinder was darker/carboned up more than the rest.....anyway to determine bad valve seals vs. Bad oil rings? What damages oil rings....detonation? I'm running 7-8lbs with meth for safety and get ZERO knock on dashlogic display....?

Got it... compression looks good... need to do a leakdown test next I guess.

Are they stock heads, springs, and seals. ?

Ignore that.. just reread thread... lol
