Default NGK Spark Plugs

Installing a Magnason Heart Beat on my 2008 LS3. NGK Iridium Plugs have been recommended. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I'm running TR7 IX on a boosted application and they idle and run just fine at WOT.

The IX line of plugs work great. Ran 7ix or 8ix depending on power level.

The recommendation to be specific: NGK Iridium IX TR712X #3690. Summit and Amozon say this plug is for the Z06 (427) not the LS3, however the reach .708, thread size, etc. seem the same. I was told that normally that is correct but since the Heartbeat was installed this would be a better choice over the NGK 7397 or the stock plugs. Any thoughts?

The TR7IX will be fine. That's what was recommended to me as well. Right now I'm running the stock ZR1 AC Delco Iridium plugs on my Heartbeat setup with 11.5+psi and have never seen any sign of KR in any datalog I've made, so I'm keeping those for now.

I run the NGK BR7EF (3346) in my Super-Charged LS3 and they work excellent. The reason I run them over the Irdium plug if the Tune up gets off I had rather the plug give up before something else does. I learned that running NOS its best for the plug to be the weak link, because if it gives up you know there is a problem.

The main thing about the BR7EF is that it is a non-projected plug. Most of the time, the use for these types of plugs is in nitrous applications. In some cases, it makes sense to use in boosted applications.

Generally speaking the TR7IX is a good plug up to about 750 rwhp. If you are hitting that number without the use of methanol or E85, it's good until about 650-700. Switch to a TR8IX after that.

They both run the same ground strap, which is the part that "gives up". So it shouldn't be any difference in safety over the two.

Nothing wrong with what you have now. If they are working just stick with them until need are ready to swap.

Depends on overall setup. Next time I may try 50 or larger. No issues at all at 24-25psi and 40, but then again I don't have a stock ignition setup.

The other day when I got my ac refilled the shop had to pull a wire to get to the ac port. Forgot to put it back on and car was sparking 3-4" away to the a/c line. Crazy seeing it shoot spark out that far.

I run mine at ~0.30 as well on stock ignition. i prefer the copper NGK plugs just because I change them out all the time when checking them and didn't notice any difference with iridiums

i believe realcanuk runs some silver special ones I may give a shot just for fun

that's gnarly to have an ignition system arcing 4" weird science style hahaha
