Carbon fiber body parts from Black Dog!
Blackdog Signature Series Carbon Fiber Body Panels
Strong, Lightweight, and Stylish. Our Signature Series panels are hand infused, using genuine carbon fiber cloth, just like our race car panels. What sets these apart is the extra work and special resin used to produce the glossy, water clear, non-yellowing finish. For those who want the weight savings of the carbon, but would prefer painted panels, we offer all of our carbon panels in an opaque, paintable finish. Typically these run 10-15% less than the Signature Series parts. Please call for information C4 and C5 parts under development.
One point that has been made before concerns water entry, as our hood has no previsions for water deflection. This is not an oversight, or an accident. Anything we would put beneath the louvers, no matter how well designed, would interfere with airflow, which would negatively affect down force and heat extraction.
And more importantly, water intrusion through our hood doesn't hurt anything. For one, the highest louver in the hood is right over top of the throttle body. So, the majority of the engine and components are still covered by the hood, and any water entering through the louvers is primarily entering dead space. And further, most everything in the engine compartment is really quite waterproof, as it doesn't exactly live in the driest of environments with the stock hood. We run this same hood on our street Z06, and it has seen plenty of rain. And if any of you saw the Sebring race last year, you know the race car basically swam its way around the track, with no ill effects.
