Default WTB 06-07 PCM ECU for C6 z06

Hey guys. Not sure if this must be a z06 pcm in order to work with the stock harness in my car. I am looking for a 06-07 PCM ECU for my c6z

You can get one from your local wrecking yard. Ask for a E38 ECM from a 07 V8 GM truck. The part number is #12597121. Your C6Z program will need to be transferred into it. You'll need to go to a GM dealer with a Tech2 for that.

I did the same. Cost from the wrecking yard was $90.

They are all the same. You can use any E38 ECM from any GM vehicle whether it's a truck or a Saturn. When you take it to have it flashed by a Tech II it will put all the correct parameters in it.

E38

E38

That is ABSOLUTELY FALSE! Their are multiple iterations of the E38s and if you flash the wrong level OSs to the incorrect PCM it will be fubared.

Well I don't know about "ABSOLUTELY FALSE!", but there is some truth to what you are saying. It seems that some people have had trouble putting 2009-2010 programming in a 2006-2008 E38 ECM and vice versa. Oddly enough though it isn't consistent. Some people aren't having issues, while others are.

This really doesn't pertain in your case anyway since you don't have a 2009-2010. Just be sure to use a computer from a pre-2009 vehicle and you should not have any issues.

If you put an 06-07 OS on a 2008+ 2 mpu pcm it will lock up after a handfull of key cycles and will not be able to be programed. If you use a 455 box in the 09 up it really makes a mess. Even GM locked up a buncha pcms in 08 when doing some drivability updates and hence a complete software update to 8.9.X to prevent it.

For 2006/2007 OS's it will need to be either 12597121 or 12603892

So hence the absolutely FALSE claim they are all the same.

Sammy,

I actually just ordered a 06 pcm from those guys. They hit it with my vin and everything.

I just wanted to be sure I would be ok with the 08 harness in this car.

I'll print out the 08 ECM pinouts tonight and compare them with my 06 ECM pinouts. Stay tuned.

I too have bought a ECM from them.

The 80 Pin connector pinouts at the ECM are identical between the 06 and 08. The 73 Pin connector has slight differences. The "starter enable relay control" has moved to a different pin location and the "clutch position sensor" also has moved and is different than the 06. The rest of the pin assignments are identical. You most likely won't be able to start the car if used as is.

There are also some different pin outs in the underhood fuse box.
