FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 5/13/2014

PARK CITY, UTAH – Hitting the Rev Limiter just got a whole new meaning with Hawk Performance’s High Performance Street 5.0. For years engine builders have been pushing motors to the lints of their ability, and at Hawk Performance we continue to get one step closer to the ABS Rev Limiter. High Performance Street 5.0 is one step closer to giving you the greatest stopping power and pedal feel for your vehicle with out compromising your ABS. Too much Brake Torque and your ABS goes into ICE mode, too little and there is no improvement to the product. Pedal feedback, Noise, Brake Torque and Dust control was our goal with High Performance Street 5.0. Not a replacement for our current HPS product, but a change that allows the driver to challenge themselves and their car with a new and unique driving feel.

The new High Performance Street 5.0 Pads are a Ferro-Carbon compound brake pads that provide advanced braking characteristics to enhance the driving experience. This new compound combines the safety and quality of aerospace design partnered with the braking technology of motorsports, the results are shorter stopping distances, improved performance under heavy braking conditions and friendly street car characteristics.

Hawk Performance High Performance Street 5.0 Pads offer more stopping power and gher resistance to brake fade, elevating your street car’s performance. This makes them more responsive and durable than most standard original brakes and makes Hawk Performance High Performance Street 5.0 Pads the best choice to increase your braking performance and reliability while being both cost conscious and “Made in the USA”

As standard brake pads wear, brake dust is released as the friction material wears in everyday braking. Hawk High Performance Street 5.0 brake pads are formulated to produce and release extremely low levels of dust in normal street driving conditions while also being very quiet.

Key Features and Benefits of Hawk Performance HPS 5.0 Brake Pads:

  • Pushing the Limits of ABS
  • Decreased stopping distances
  • Improved pedal feel from initial pressure through entire pedal stroke
  • Minimal fade under Higher Temps
  • High friction/torque hot or cold
  • Gentle on rotors
  • Very quiet, low noise
  • Improved braking over OE pads
  • Extended pad life

For street driven, some Centric Premium rotors will certainly get the job done. Great price, durable, and quality.

They are listed on my website, or you can shoot me a PM and we can get you a package deal if you end up wanting to do rotors also.

Since this is a new pad and there are some unknowns to us, I would recommend using some new rotors.

Hawk didn't release any actual numbers except for the Mu which is .41 compared to the original HPS of .36

"With the improved manufacturing processes it provides better torque right out of the box and for the life of the product - Hawk Performance"

"Optimum braking temperature for a street compound is 100-700, the new HPS 5.0 compound meets and exceeds the street compound standard. - Hawk Performance"

I currently don't have any feedback on them, I shipped out my first shipment of them this past Wednesday.

I think they are going to be in between a Hawk HPS and a Hawk HP+. The are supposed to have a higher braking temperature, better initial bite, lower dust, and less abrasiveness towards the rotors.
