F/S C6 Z06 Front LH Fender (Cracked) - $1,000 OBO
For sale is a front drivers side fender in black off a 2006 Corvette Z06. The fender was cracked after a low speed impact with a baby deer in my neighborhood last year. Rather than attempt a repair, I asked the body shop to completely replace it (much to the dissatisfaction of my insurance company )
I don't have the expertise to repair carbon fiber, but I'm sure someone on here does. These fenders are $2,000+ a piece before paint so I knew not to throw it away. I'm open to any reasonable offers. I will post a picture of the fender shortly, but in the meantime here are two pictures taken the morning after the collision.
Local pickup in Allentown, PA preferred but I would consider shipping it at buyer's expense (probably $100-$200).

Melting Slicks
Interesting.
I've owned numerous carbon fiber fenders/huggers/bodywork for the race bikes before but have never seen white carbon fiber mat before.

For the 2006 Corvette Z06, GM specified the use of T600-24K carbon from Toray Composites America Inc. for the front fenders, front wheel houses and rear fenders. This is the same material used for the hood of the 2004 Corvette Commemorative Edition Z06, which was the first attempt by a US automaker to use carbon fiber in a major body panel.
The fenders were made by a company called Vermont Composites (now Plasan Carbon Composites). The work was led by former GM engineer Donald Lasell, who was responsible for the design of the C5 carbon fiber hood.
Chevy would have liked to use more carbon fiber elsewhere, notably for the hood, roof and other body panels, but it was cost-prohibitive... hence came the ZR1 and then used later in the C6 life-cycle (427 edition, carbon edition, etc.)
The front fenders themselves shaved 26.5 lbs off the vehicle weight in addition to the aluminum frame (saving another 136 lbs) and magnesium parts (engine cradle, roof structure and a couple suspension bits).
So yes, this fender for sale is made of carbon fiber.
