I have a set that I like and make good use of as my leg doesn't bend as readily as it should. The shield takes all the shoe polish, marks and dirt.
I do have a piece of advice. If you find that you are clumsy enough that you knock it a bit loose now and then in tight parking spaces, you can use a product called museum putty. It is perfectly clear and will not permanently stick to anything. Museums use it to keep displayed china and similar items in place. I put two or three dabs on the sill under the clear cover and I have been unable to knock it loose since.
