nah, anyone quoting power gains at the flywheel is making it up, since you can't really measure that

I agree, and I am not suggesting otherwise, but when you say "HP" people assume it is at the crank. After all, the HP you measure at the wheels is not what the engine produces, but rather it is what is left of it after all the powertrain losses, so you cannot simply say this engine produces xx HP, and you need to mention it was measured at the wheels.

Anyway, I'm glad the figures are whp/wtq; it is a much bigger gain than I thought since it is at the wheels.

While there are engine dynos, most people are getting their numbers from a chassis dyno. Professional engine shops will build you an engine then run it in to make sure everything is good to go before you go to all the work of putting the engine in your car. These rear wheel hp numbers are the numbers that you actually have available to use after all the parasitic losses. You can have great engine dyno numbers but if you use a poorly designed or mismatched torque converter along with mismatched chassis setup and mismatched gearing, you can still have a car that won't come near to showing it's true potential. The numbers at the end of the quarter mile are the only ones that really matter and they can some times be quite embarrassing. It can be due to the car setup, the driver, or both.

There is a discussion over at Ls1Tech, where someone who claims to be a GM engineer who worked on LS7, new LT1, etc., say that besides Air/Fuel ratio, etc., the tuners also take into account the resultant EGTs since higher EGTs might cause damage in the long term, and might even one of the main causes of the LS& valve dropping issue.

Do you guys know what is the impact of your LS7 tune over EGTs? I don't think this is as much of an issue on LS3s, but LS7 appears to be vulnerable to anything

The minimal changes required to pull a few HP from an LS7 via tuning is not enough to have any detrimental effect on EGT.

His desire to monitor EGT on alll 8 cyls is hectic, expensive, and difficult on some chassis, and if there was as big of a spread in EGT as he says from cyl to cyl, well, I have to wonder if its more related to the manifold design, or some flow based issue....

Do you put your OEM map back in before going to the dealer?

and Mike, if the car won't start and needs to go to the dealer, how then to re-install the OEM tune before hitting the dealership/being towed there?

Put it in accessory mode to re-flash.

If you press and hold acc button, it will put it in ON position without attempting to start the car.

Does Diablosport tune has any negative impact on the second generation F55 and PTM? I honestly don't know where the PTM and MagnaRide features' software is stored and managed in our cars

The canned tunes work fine with any cai and exhaust of course you could always contact one of our CMR dealers on the forum for a custom tune which pick you up a few extra hp.

Ditto! from my experience. I hold the current Grand Sport "bolt-on" 1/4 mile record on the stock runflats running just a set of 1 3/4" Headers, CAI, and a "CANNED" DiabloSport/93 tune.

PS: The tuners are USA!

Aloha Mike
Couple of questions. I just bought a 06 z51 MN6. Car has kooks longtubes, high flow cat with xpipe, corada cat back. And a vararam snake charmer. And an electric water pump. 91 octane is the most I can get. Which unit should I get and how should I tune it? Just a/f, maybe some timing? What if my car already has a dyno / street tune? I will also be installing a fast or typhoon intake.
Thanks for any tips

If it is already tuned, are you not happy with it?

The inTune or Trinity will save an existing custom tune as the backup and allow you to either load one of our tunes, or modify the existing tune if needed

The tune seems good. Was just wondering if I could use the unit over a custom tune. Good to know I can save the current tune. Want to do some serious data logging and see if the air fuel is good etc. Plus when I change. My intake, port my tbody I want to be able to log and possibly tweak the tune. Our tuner out here is mediocere at best.
