Default Chuck COW tune and Booster review

Chuck COW is visiting in Houston and I had my Chuck Cow tune, A6 tune and Cow Booster installed last night and thought I would share my opinion about it since I know all of yall care what I think.

This is one of the best mods I’ve ever done on any car. The car feels completely different and I was literally smiling so much all the way home that my cheeks hurt. When everything was installed and we took it out for the first test drive and got on it all I could do was giggle like a little school boy. I was instantly satisfied but he took the time to tweak it and customize it for me afterwards. If anyone has the opportunity to go to an event where Chuck is tuning I would definitely jump on it. All you Houston guys need to get down there this weekend and get in on it. Heck even some of you western Louisiana guys need to drive on over. Its definitely worth it.

Car: 2008 A6 with NPP. 70k miles. Only mod is a Volant intake.

Service: The service I got from Chuck was outstanding. I was originally supposed to show up on Saturday but my plans changed so I called Chuck and he was able to work me in last night and stayed till 11pm making sure everything was perfect for me. I think it’s amazing that you can still get that kind of customer service and effort from someone now a days. Especially while on a trip away from home where I'm sure he wanted to get some sleep before the weekend rush of tunes started. Chuck is a very nice guy who is easy to talk to and very knowledgeable about what he’s doing. I asked a lot of questions while he was tweaking stuff and he never got annoyed with me and explained what he was doing and what effect it would have on the car.

A6 tune: All you auto drivers out there that were wishing you had a stick shift need this tune done. All you auto drivers out there that think there “happy” with the auto the way it is need this tune done. It is so awesome. I felt like I was in a totally different car the way it shifts now. Before I would get on it in first gear and the car would pull then the 1st to 2nd gear shift happened and it felt like the car would almost stop then take off again. That shift is a beast now. It just keeps on pulling till you chicken out and lift off the throttle.

Cow Booster: Holy Chuck Cow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This alone was worth the cost of the whole tune. You don’t realize how non responsive the throttle is until you get Cow Booster. While we were out testing the car and getting all the numbers right in line Chuck disabled the Cow Booster after I had done a couple runs with it and all my smiles turned to frowns. I couldn’t imagine the difference after feeling what cow booster could do. In the end he setup 2 settings for me so when traction control is on, the throttle is alive but tame and once traction control is off the throttle is in game on mode. I did the 2 throttle setting because my wife drives the car from time to time and I didn’t want her complaining.

Lastly I would like to thank Steve from Vararam for sticking around till 11pm so we could use his shop. He didn’t have to and they both could have told me I'm out of luck since I couldn’t make it on Saturday anymore. I appreciate it very much.

Also I saw Chuck post if you come down this weekend he will tune and Cow Boost your car for free and if you don’t like it take it out. I guarantee if you try it you will spend the money for it and I'm glad I did.

Thank you for the great review!

Always a pleasure to do good work for good people.

Also, thank you to Steve and Patrick from VARARAM for always welcoming me and my customers to their facility.

In all the years we've done this trip we've always had a great time!

I had my car tuned the next morning, the trans. shifts so much better now and the boost has put the fun factor back into driving the car. Chuck went far and beyond what i was expecting. For those who have never met or dealt with Chuck, I think you are missing out. The tranny reminds me of the old auto"s I had back in my hay days. Thanks Chuck

I have driven my friends Corvette with a Chuck Cow Boost, it was a six speed manual transmission, I found it to be overly sensitive in first two gears. I felt it was unsafe. We decided to have it dialed back.

Hey there.

When I set up CoW BOOSTER! for people, I always ask them what they like... Some like it

aggressive and some ask for it mild.

I usually set them up more on the "sporty" side as I know most people will quickly become comfortable with it.

It's difficult to judge your first time driving it.... It's such a big improvement but I encourage people

to spend some time with it before deciding.

Mods like ported throttle bodies, rear ends, etc will change the way it feels from one car to the next so,

not every car with the same throttle profile will feel the same.

As always, I will make any adjustments to it for free no matter how long you've had it.

Additionally, I encourage the addition of our AutoCal remote tuner so that we can change the CoW BOOSTER!

or any other tune parameter ANY TIME WE LIKE NO MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE.

Having the flexibility of changing it any time (or removing / re-installing) whenever you like makes

it even more fun to have it so the AutoCal is a great "mod" for the car.

Stay TUNED!

Actually Chuck, I had to use EFI Live tuning software to adjust your Cow Boost, mainly because you failed to call my friend back or several months. Any tuner with HP Tuner's or EFILive can adjust these tables, your Cow Boost isn't special, it's border line dangerous! He noticed a few issues with the car and was never given a return phone call after repeated attempts to contact you. I Dyno Tuned it at a local Dyno and fixed certain issue with the Tune. The car was running hot mainly from too much timing and running lean under WOT conditions(13.1 -13.3 AFR), considering the car was equipped with a Vararam Intake system it should have been a little richer(12.4-12.6). This AFR allowed us to pick up a few HP over your tune and the car runs cooler too. I have Dyno graphs to prove the HP increase. I'm not a professional tuner, just a guy with a little knowledge from helping out my friend's with tuning issues. When his car was originally tuned by you, the AutoCal device was just coming out, but it would have not mattered to my buddy because you failed to provide him with any customer service after he paid you over $700 of a "Cow Boosted Tune"!

I've never had an issue getting ahold of Chuck. Every time except once I was able to get ahold of him when I called and the one time I didn't I got a call back within an hour and it was after 5pm his time. As I said above I think his customer service is outstanding because he could of said, I'm not staying late to tune your car but he did when my plans changed.

As for the COW Booster being 2 aggressive I had Chuck do 2 levels of it so my wife can drive the car with a less aggressive feel and not be scared of it. We went for a test drive and I let her try both throttles and she actually liked the sportier version more and Chuck made my 2nd version stronger than his "base" Cow Booster. But I guess to each his own. I know I couldn't drive the car without it after having it.

You have not specified the customer or vehicle type your assertions are lacking merit.

Any customer that does not provide the datalogs for me to make adjustments can never expect a final product.

Some vehicles take 3 logs and tune adjustments and others take many to be finalized.

No doubt any tuner could improve something that's never been finished.

Without the customer name and vehicle type I can not answer any questions for you.

Thank you Adam...

Looks like someone hijacked your very nice thread so that they could promote their amateur tuning business.

I'm glad you're happy with my work. Thank you.
