Change Temp of Colling Fan Activation
Hi All,
Recently purchased a Callaway SC-560.
The cooling fan on this car is coming on (hi) at 201'. Since the car typically runs at 203-207, the fan is roaring away all the time and never turns off until you shut down the car.
I have had many Corvettes including three Z06s. None of them did this.
What do I need to do to pull that activation temp down a bit?
What is the "normal" temp that the fan turns on?
Thanks!

Your cooling fans are programmed as a part of the Callaway Calibration. That's what controls your fan speed (percentages of duty) and on/off timing.
First thing I would do is check the area between the radiator, AC, and intercooler heat exchanger cores for dirt and debris, including cleaning the finned areas. If they are dirty or partially blocked, your car will run hotter than usual.
I hope this helps.

The car is like new and perfectly clean. Seems to me the fan is starting at too low a temp. 201'.
What temp is normal for the engine to be running? 203-207 is what I see, AC on or AC off.

Hope this is not too simple a question....
I would like to see what temperature my fan is programmed to turn on. How can I do that, short of going to the dealer?

For those not familiar with tuning who may see this thread....
The fan control can be adjusted with tuners like the Hypertech Max Energy Power Programmer and the Diablo Sport InTune I1000.

I looked at mine with the DiabloSport inTune. My fans were programmed to start coming on 25% at 196, up to 100% at 203. At cruise my temp varies from 201 to 208, so the fan was running all the time. Unless maybe it shuts down when vehicle speed is over 35 or so. It is a Callaway SC560.
Seems like I read that in the stock tune, the fans never exceed 90%?

196 - 0
199 - 15
203 - 23
207 - 31
210 - 39
214 - 47
217 - 56
221 - 74
and 90% the rest of the way.
