Recommended Spark Plugs & Wires
I purchased my '05 Z51 in May. I just purchased a set of MagnaFlow 'shorty' headers (for all of you that will say I should have gone with Long Tubes, the car came with a MagnaFlow cat back system & I didn't want to change any of the components) and an Airaid intake.
My question would be since I am right there anyway, I am going to change the plugs and wires (I have no idea if or when they were ever changed previously & the car has 56K miles), and would like opinions on make/manufacture of brands, options, etc...
Thanks in advance for the input!

I agree NGK TR5's come pre-gapped at .040 or you can buy a TR55 that comes pre-gapped at .060 and close them to .040----GM originally recommended a .060 gap on the C5 and C6 but now recommend a .040
As far as wires go I like the GM performance wires (red) the best--- These wire are so short that OHM loss is not an issue anymore but boot fitment on the coil and heat resistance on the plug end is more important--

Every tuner I have talked to or heard from (including those on the forum) say to go with Z06 plugs and wires. The iridium plugs keep cooler than the NGKs. There are many, many threads on here (check tech section) that talk about this same topic.

Yes I used a tr6ix "iridium" plug, they are brand new I will taken them out as my tuner suggested a colder plug and now will install a tr7ix. if you lived near Ottawa Canada I'd gladly give them to you. they may have 300km on them and they are 12$ plug my cost.
tr5ix (iridium) NGK # 7397
tr6ix (iridium) NGK # 3689 (i'd suggest these)
here is the part number for the wires 12495519
you could even order at the local dealer
