ECM Differences 07 Z06 12Z06
Are there any differences at all between these two PCMs? I am working on launch control on 05-09 cars. I read on thread that they believe they are different, but looking through HP Tuners they look the same.

That would only compare the parameters of the tune. The operating system is what controls all the functions of the ECU.
Although they are all E38s, not all operating systems are compatible with all E38 ECUs and the slave operating system. I'm not sure there is a listing of the changes in each OS as they change each MY and can be upgraded during the MY.
You can type a VIN into the GM TIS database and see the what changes in each calibration.

I'm looking at adding PTM to an '11 Z07. I'm not sure what all portions of the OS on the PCM I'd need to change. Does anyone know? When I compare the '11 Z07 in question (has F55), to an '12 Z07 that has PTM on tis2web, every os in the ECM is different. I ASSume because of the model year change.
However, for smog reasons, I still need to have the OS report as an '11 with the vin from the '11....
Any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks!
Jason

After doing some comparisons on tis2web, the following has emerged:
non F55 cars do not have an ESCM computer or program in '11 or '12.
Comparing '12 F55 cars to non-F55 cars:
ECM ID's are ALL the same
EBCM OS the same
EBCM ID #2 is different (which I ASSume is the actual parameters)
Comparing '11 Z07 F55 to '12 Z07 (F55):
ECM ID's are ALL different (will this matter???)
EBCM ID's are ALL different
ESCM OS is the SAME
ESCM ID #3 is different, again I ASSume these are the operational parameters
So here's what I wondering. If I just flash the EBCM and the ESCM with the '12 Z07 flash, will the fact that the ECM OS is different be a show stopper? If so, any idea if/how I can maintain the '11 VIN and smog scan functionality?
Thanks!

Do you have magnetic ride already? The ESCM is the suspension control module and would be required to add F55, along with the magnetic shocks. Then you would have to update the BCM to reflect F55.
There was a thread where someone added launch control to a 2009 by flashing the ECU with a 2010 calibration, and then changed the VIN back. It might be a good starting point for you.
