explanation needed
been having issues with fuel sending units in both tanks only reading intermittently. I put the repair on the back burner because I just got done installing an ECS kit and been getting help dialing in my tune with another board member using HP Tuners. That has been my current priority.
While messing with HP tuners and trying to get a grip on what it is capable of doing, I decided to disable the codes that keep popping up for the fuel sending units (engine light and Service Fuel system).
Typically my fuel gauge would either work, or show empty. Since disabling the trouble codes...the fuel gauge has been working. what gives?

When the ECM sees the fuel level sensors reading intermittently it eventually throws a code. The car believes the gauge isn't accurate/can't be trust and thus the gauge is disabled.
You've disabled the code, so it keeps working with whatever info it is getting from the fuel level senders (whether it is reasonable or not) and can't throw a code.

Just because you have disabled the codes does not mean you have fixed the problem--all you have done is to keep the ECM from reporting the problem- But if in fact you have a real issue----it still exists

I don't disagree there isn't a problem and the explanation makes sense. I was just surprised that after disabling the MIL light, the gauge started working again. But the explanation that the ECM was turning a perhaps intermittent signal to zero gas reading on the gauge explains it.
I now have to get off my a$$ and fix it. lol
