Default Getting the most out of the Torque app

I am sure that plenty of you guys are using the torque app. What settings do you use? Has anyone completed a full scan for additional PIDs?

Yes I have performed the full scan, and unfortunately no additional PIDs were added. I started the full scan while on a road trip and it was done shortly before I needed to stop for gas with my Samsung S4 it took about 3-4.5 hours. Just add the Pontiac / GM / Opel / Vauxhall pre-defined set and you'll have access to the many useful PIDs; on our cars I don't think there is a need for a full scan.

I used a refresh rate of 0.4 seconds (2.5Hz) and I normally log all GPS Data and the first 17 parameters listed below. On occasion when I messing around with stuff I've logged all 27. I can only log about 3-5 PIDs and achieve a refresh rate of 0.1 seconds (10Hz) I haven't be able to determine if its a limitation of the phone, software, OBDii module, or the car.

Here's what I have logged with success.

GPS Data:
-------------------
* GPS Time
* Device Time
* Longitude
* Latitude
* GPS Speed (Meters/second)
* Horizontal Dilution of Precision
* Altitude
* Bearing
* G(x)
* G(y)
* G(z)
* G(calibrated)

PID Data:
-------------------
1 Fuel Level (From Engine ECU)(%)
2 Intake Air Temperature(°F)
3 Ambient air temp(°F)
4 Transmission Fluid Temp (GM Method 1)(°F)
5 Engine Coolant Temperature(°F)
6 Oil Temperature (Engine)(°F)
7 Oil Pressure (Engine)(psi)
8 Accelerator PedalPosition D(%)
9 Throttle Position(Manifold)(%)
10 Engine RPM(rpm)
11 Speed (GPS)(mph)
12 Speed (OBD)(mph)
13 Air Fuel Ratio(Commanded)(:1)
14 Timing Advance(°)
15 Knock Retard(Deg.)
16 Volumetric Efficiency (Calculated)(%)
17 Run time since engine start(s)

19 Fuel Trim Bank 2 Short Term(%)
20 Fuel Trim Bank 1 Long Term(%)

Thanks for saving my from the full scan! I was trying to figure out when I would have time to make a long enough trip.

I cant wait for my android head unit to arrive so I can really get this going.

100% spot on.

I love this app. Torque Pro + the OBD Bluetooth tool is amazing.

Just installed a tablet onto my center console for the purpose of the extra gauges and data logging that Torque Pro provides.
(I may move it up higher for line-of-sight purposes.)

I cannot find a way to rerun the log files. I have phone storage logs, Torque website log files and log files in my pc. I have not found how to rerun them. Is it possible? It reruns the map route, but no clues how to study the graphs and gauges repeatedly.

Good question. I dont know how you would play them in sync in a display with the video. I'm sure there is a way out there, but other than matching times in the excel sheet to the times on any recorded video, I have yet to figure out a playable way. Hmmm
Anyone else care to chime in on this one?

Good job. The half dials with digital read out are very easy to read at a glance as well. You can set max/min (Capture #3) or let it self adjust (Capture #2).

I'm not completely sure of the question, but I don't think looking at all the data in real time can be done via the app. I use excel to look at the raw numbers, but the easier way is to dump the files into a program like race render. Obviously the video part of the screen will be black but you can add dials to display all of the data you've logged.

I used 4 x Scosche "Magic Mount" (http://www.scosche.com/magic-mount-c...r-tablet-mount - Can be found on Amazon) dash pieces with the steel plates stuck to the bottom of the tablet.

I imagine you can shoot a video and still log data but I'm not sure how well the phone will keep up. Also the gauges will not be overlayed on top of the video. A program like Race Render will be needed for that. Lastly, a second camera is not need.

Hope this helps.
