what EXACTLY can dyno tune do for me?
2005 Z51 with Airaid cold air intake, and Borla cat-back exhaust. S series I believe. Put all this on within the past year. owned for 2.
Would a dyno tune do anything for a "daily driver" like me? I LOVE to get on it almost every day for a mile or so but other than that usually just 30 min. drive to home/from work. Here in central TX their charging about 450 to 500 for a professional dyno tune. My main question....
How much extra HP would I even get out of a good dyno tune with my minimal add ons? My vette is an automatic too (I know booo) but it is what it is. I lOVE vettes, just too dumb to work on em so any advice on wheather I should do this or not is appreciated. Or ideas on something else I should do instead to gain the almighty HP's!
Thanks anyone who read this far, cant wait to hear back...

In my honest opinion a dyno tune isn't worth the money with your mods, but a good street tune would make a noticeable improvement. You'd save a little money...you may not squeeze every hp out this way but I'd say you'd get most everything available to you.

Tuning the transmission would be very noticeable, where the engine tune could also be noticeable (torque management, etc.), depending on how aggressive it was. Using either technique (street or dyno).

Transmission changes would be the biggest changes you'd feel
Otherwise typical changes are to change it to slightly leaner, increase ignition timing and decrease some of the timing changes that happen with higher Iat's and ect's.
Can also change the amount of timing pulled when knock is detected and also how fast timing is added back.

With a full Z06 exhaust, Vararam, home ported intake and 1.8 rockers my dyno tune on a LS2 netted 23hp.

Yes, fan speeds too. I'm not a fan of running the fans too hard at low temps so I didn't even remember that. Some have them set to run wide open all the time. Mine start coming on at 200 and ramp up to wide open around 215

The stock fan controller just doesn't like it one bit.

Indeed. The melting connectors aren't so awesome either

Do you plan to do any additional mods in the future? You can always wait to get a tune if you plan to do future bolt-ons etc..But like everyone said, it would have a minimal impact on power with your current mods. However, it's still not a bad idea to dial in some of your parameters.
