Default OBD Speed PID - Max 158.4?

I took my new OBDLink MX out to the Texas Mile over the weekend and logged all of my runs. One bit of weirdness I noticed in my logs is that my speed from OBD is limited to 158.4, which is 255 kph and apparently the max that OBD supports.

So my question is how does the actual speedometer work and is there a way to capture the speed directly off of ODB or do I need to rely on GPS speed (which luckily, I captured as well)?

Default

I had the same problem in EFI Live.. Max VSS (vehicle speed) is 158 mph even though we were over 175. I believe it has something to do with the max number 8 bits of data can count.. 255 (kph)

I am switching to ProEFI this year, but will be piggybacked to the factory ECU, so not sure if I will have the same issue?
