Default Lost the only key fob :(

Hello all, I did a cam/header swap on a buddies 2013 grand sport. Took the car to autozone, got home and couldn't find the key fob. Its a possibility that I placed the key in the engine bay when I filled up the power steering fluid, and forgot about it and drove off. Long story short, I was able to drive home but now the car is locked (windows are down) and I have no key for it. He doesn't have a spare either. So basically I screwed myself and need to get a new key made for him. My question is, I found a place (performancecorvettes.com) that sells the key fob, and I did a search looking for a write up on programming the key fob but couldn't find a good source. Can anyone please point me in the right direction, I cant be the only one to lose the only key, and rather not go to the dealer and have them clean out my wallet. Thanks in advance.

The fobs are all over ebay. They are the same from 2008-2013, the numbers are 25926479 and 25926480. There is some info in the owners manual about programming a fob. Hope this helps , about all I know

Also what is the difference between #1 and #2 and would it matter since both keys are missing?

You might also post this in "General Discussion". There seems to be more activity in there than in "Scan and Tune"

is there a way for me to move this so I don't double post? Or maybe an admin can move it.

Doesn't matter, they will both work to start the car. The difference between 1 and 2 adjusts your memory seats and stuff like that for different drivers.

Can't program the new fob without the key that goes in the truck latch by the license plate .

You have to turn the key " X" number of times and that puts the system in programing mode , then you need to erase all FOBS and start by programing FOB #1 , then the DIC (Driver Information Center) will ask for FOB# 2 and so on

So the only option will be go to dealer and have them cut you a key , then hope it turns the lock ... if not you will have to go to the dealer

Good Luck and let us know how it turns out

Dave

#1 vs. #2 is just the number marked on the back of the key. Either will work if you're starting from scratch

You'll need the actual physical key that goes into the key for the rear hatch (near license plate). You can get these cut at the dealer for ~$12, so just go get one if you need one.

I had to have the owner of the car go in get the key made. They needed his info/ID to get the code to cut the key. They cut the key, and got me a new fob. I programmed it easily using the "long method". He works out of town a lot so we just got it done yesterday. Thanks for all the help fellas.
