3 Questions:

What excatly have you ordered @ wobd2 (don't know what year your car is)?
What should I order excatly (best to know the full package with device, software, cables etc.) to make me able to programm my 2013 GS with that (have to remove the magnetic ride system replacing the OEM shocks with coilovers)?
Do I need an Tech2 in addition (I have already HPTuners sitting at home)?

Thanks

You need to figure out exactly what you want to do with it, and see if the system can even do that. There are things that HPtuners/efi/MDI/Tech2 can't do.

Tech 2 is useless for your car. You need the GM MDI, not sure if there are any knock off's of this tool.

HP Tuners and EFI Live only work with the ECU and maybe the TCM. If you need to remove the magnetic ride features you may need both the MDI and HP Tuners but maybe even the MDI with a non Mag Ride file to upload to the BCM. Not sure if the MDI has an on/off function for mag ride.

I haven't done any research on this so don't quote me as exactly right. But its a start.

Sorry for asking more nasty questions.

Assume you bought the SP163-Package - right?
Where got you the online account for the MDI? What are the costs?
Assume your comment about programming 2013 GS effective means that you are able to Programm a 2013 GS with the combination out of MDI and that online account - correct?

Thanks

Lars

I picked up one of the Tech 2 clones on Amazon...$381...it is a asian knock-off...but works like a champ...it came with everything...even a CANDI adaptor. The only issue I have is, the ad description says it comes with software loaded for all GM (and several other) models through the current year...which I guess would be 2016. When I set it up to use on my 2005, I noticed the latest year in the set up was 2013. That is currently not a problem for me...but might be for others hoping to use it on newer model GM's. Shipping was free...but because it was coming from Hong Kong (I think), I paid the extra $9 for shipping and got it in 4 days. It does come with a 1 yr warranty.

Again GM switched to MDI halfway through 2012. The Tech 2 will not work on some 2013 cars but should work on all 2005-2012.

It does appear there are knock off MDI interface modules that will allow you to use the Tech 2 with 2013+ models. I have not tested or researched this so proceed at your own risk.

GM MDI does all 2013 - 2017 vehicles as I mentioned in my earlier post. Pretty sure you're translating from Asia to support the sale of the knock offs. No one's real American name is Teedy Smaith

He's probably talking about this website where dealers and shops have to pay for the software and ECU revisions.

That's because you are using a translator so my short hand lingo did not translate for you. I did say 2013+. That means 2013 model year all the way to current model year.

Also, I'm not knocking the fake Tech2 or MDI. I own a fake Tech . It works great. But its very obvious what I am saying is lost in translation to you.

Bought a Tech2 straight from China on aliexpress.com a 3-4 years ago for around $350 shipped. Been working great. Just flashed a Escalade Sueprnav radio with it this week.

You can find pirated versions of 2008 GM SPS which allow you to do most offline programming, but you still need a sub to www.acdelcotds.com for a few things.

Like others said, most 2012-2013+ vehicles need to use the GM MDI

Hi guys,

still not clear what I have to purchase
This is the MDI SP163-Package and I understood that this is needed for sure.
Can I program without the online account or is this account mandatory and needed as well and why?
If it is needed which one is the right one for the MDI programming?

Thanks for all clarification in advance.

Regards

Lars
