Default KR when revving?

Just playing around with the VCM scanner today and noticed I get some knock retard when I free rev the car in neutral or with the clutch in. There's an occasional blip of KR under load when WOT, but nowhere near as much as when I just rev it. 2006 Z06 H/C/I and I didn't tune it. Anyone know what's going on? Is this normal on the LS7?

Attached are a log of revving then some WOT, and another log of just a couple revs.
Attached Files
File Type: hpl
revknock2.hpl (120.3 KB, 53 views)

Not out of the ordinary in my opinion. I didn't see anything over 1*. Assuming the knock settings aren't completely out in left field then I wouldn't worry about it. When you see real knock it will be much higher and stay around longer. Again, assuming tuner didn't do too much to the knock settings

The second file has over 3° of KR. Is the exhaust touching the frame or other solid part somewhere and rattling or some sort of vibration that the engine or knock sensor is picking up? Looks like the 20-21° of commanded timing at the higher rpm range is same as my car but the KR is pulling it back.

Is there knock when driving the in the same rpm/load ranges?

Normal.

You'll chase your tail and land up with a car that makes no power if you try to make it so KR is always zero. A random blip every once and awhile is completely normal.

No it's fine when driving around. I've just never logged while revving and freaked out a bit when I saw the KR.

Agree w/Unreal

I did that on my truck and it was damn near dangerous to drive it was so slow.

My 08 will ping if i am driving 55-60 in 6th gear (auto)and i try and accelerate more when the elevation of the road increases.(slight hill).Seems that it should shift down or the computer should compensate on the timing.

My last Corvette did that. I had to go into the tune and remove a little timing. It was too much for the computer to adjust at that condition.

Can that be done with a Tech 11 scanner?

Tech 11 sounds so futuristic and cool.
