Default How to know if you need a tune??

Just added a Borla Exhaust and a K&N filter. The car doesn't seem to shift right sometimes in first gear and maybe second. Would these changes require a tune? If so do I just buy a handheld? Nothing else is done to the car. 08 Coup Z51. Thanks

I would say yes, you need to get the car tuned. I would look for a local tuner and get the car tuned. Any time parts are added s tune is going to make a world of a difference. Even stock cars respond well to a tune only

I have only driven it a few times since the install on a few days when it got warm. So maybe it needs a break in period. It doesn't happen all the time but it has rev'd up in first gear on a down shift when It goes to up shift. almost like it was stuck in Neutral. So going from 50 to 15 then trying to accelerate. Only happened a few times since I added the mods. Never happened before. Not sure if I need to worry or just being crazy.

It is supposed to rev match on down shift but the up shift is not suppose to slip .

There is absolutely no way adding a cat back exhaust caused this ......

Disconnect the battery overnight , sometimes that will reset the TCM...otherwise find someone that has a tech II and havevthem do the TCM reset procedure
