Default Service Bulletins, TSB, Recall - Your help please

Forum Members,

I am about to take my 2006 C6 into the local Chevy dealership for its first visit. I understand there is a problem with the Pulley that needs to be addressed for my VIN number series.

My question:

What other Bulletins, Recalls, or TSB should I be prepard to discuss with the service manager to get addressed at the same time?

My car was build in Sept/Oct 2004 with a VIN of 3190.

THANKS in advance!!!

those are only the bulletins and recall info. from the NHTSA. There are others but somehow are only found if you have the problems and are lucky enough to have it researched prior to work, etc.

for example, there is a bulletin (just release about a week ago) about early production (before dec.) MN6s that have a weak clutch.

You mean there are more? Like this wasn't enough!

I have an M6 ( August '04 ) . haven't noticed any slippage. What are the details on that TSB?

the tsb for the clutch is for early production clutches and high rpm shifts. shifting over 6k will cause the clutch to stick to the floor.

the gm tsb number is 05-07-31-001 April 8, 2005

Thanks Zig,

Haven't noticed anything like that .....Yet! Just another thing to keep my eye on.

So your saying the clutch won't disengage when red lining? The pedal itself actually does not come up? That's interesting!

C'mon guys. There are TSB's out for just about every vehicle in production. These refer to problems that have been observed and diagnosed, and provide a reference for a service department if one of the problems shows up. It doesn't mean that you'll ever see the problem, just if you do there's a solution available.

We've already gone through the MN6 panic, and now the crank pulley bolt hysteria. Overall reliability on the car has been excellent, it's just very easy to lose sight of that at times. Sometimes, too much knowledge is not a good thing.

I kinda agree with your last sentence. Sometimes I just don't want to know every little issue that has been addressed with a TSB unless of course it's a recall. You'll end up going a little .............

So far I have had my clutch replaced to the new one since I had the high RPM problem and my battery was cracked. They replaced it too. The Crank Pully was ok.

How can I be sure I don't have that clutch problem?? Is there a way I can test it ??? What exactly were the symptoms?

Thanks in advance.

the clutch problem only seems to be with cars built prior to dec 04. the symptom are: when shifting at 6000 rpm or higher the clutch will remain on the floor (even when you remove your foot) until the rpms are dropped back down to 2k or so.

kinda kills the run if you know what i mean...
