Default Vararam Intake

what do you guys think of the upcoming vararam intake system for the c6?
how were they on the c5? antone have any experiences?
i saw the pic of the intake for the c5 on their website and it looks like a true ram air intake.
how do you guys think it will compare to the callaway honker or the vortex considering that the vararam is supposed to be a true ram air intake and the rest are not?

LAPD is supposed to get and install it for me and do before and after dyno tests.

I guess (some of) the ones with foam filters are letting a lotta crap into the engine. Some ugly pictures down in C5.

Never thought I'd hear a fellow corvette owner talking DOWN to another.

But, the vararam is a good intake system. Some have reservations about the ability of the foam/oil filter performing up to the paper filters. I can tell you that I have been using the vararam on my C5 for 2 years w/o any filtering problems. I just took the system apart last week for cleaning and ran a white rag through the system to check for dirt and came up with NONE. So the bottom line is the system does work IF it is installed correctly and the filter is proplerly oiled. And you can always replace the foam filter with a K&N filter if you don't strust it completely.

I've been running Vararam for 3 years on my C5 without any issues. I didn't like the flimsy foam filter it came with, so they sent me a K&N for no charge. I'll be interested to see how they design the C6 version.

Down the main page. Like Pacific or Off topic. I imagine when C7 comes out Ill say "Up in C7". When I come here I link to the main forum page and then I read C6, C5, Pacific, engines, electronics, and OT. Sometimes I make it into the tire section or car care. No insult was meant. As far as the vararam, I would encourage folks to read up in the C5 section and keep that in mind when considering the C6 unit.

I bet his VR was not sealed correctly to do that to the TB. The old style Vararam race filter did have less filtering capacity than the Halltech, Blackwing, K & N but the Vararam no longer produces these and has not since the release of the VR-1B which has now evolved to the VR-2B. I will tell you that as soon as I buy my next vette the ONLY intake that will go on it is the Vararam.
