Dyno Day with the Porsche club...and TOTALLY Wowed by the LPE set up>>>
OOPS...just noticed I post this over on the general forum...anyway>>
I can only say I had a smile a mile wide after MR BLU dyno runs...but first I was invited over to Curry's Automotive for a PCA event there...loads of very nice Porsches and the top gun was a beautifully done GT2... Curry's has a 4WD Mustang Dyno so both the 2 WD and AWD Porsches could be dynoed. I drove in with my 'lowly' C6 and just parked off to the side...discretely I got lots of lookers though...some asked if I was going to dyno the car...said that's what I am here for. After about dozen dynoed Porsches then came the big gun...the GT2 which I found out had been chipped and the sport exhaust was obvious. Must say, the Porsche racing seats were beautiful but for $190,000++ should be!
Each dyno session had one calibration set up then three pulls...for the turbo cars no point going for the third pull due to heat sink setting in...even with (2) 120 mph fans plus (1) 60 mph fan. Pull two for the GT2 was his best... a most impressive 414 WHP and definitely left the rest of the Porsches in the dust (actually I was surprised how badly the 928s did...for a 5L engine those things were only putting out... 233-250 WHP. One 94' 911T (chipped) did 362 WHP. A 996 AWD did 218 WHP...to me a so so number.
Then came MR BLU.... have to admit I was a bit nervous since this would be the first dyno test after getting back from LPE (did the 366 head/cam package)...LPE dynoed and got 412 WHP but that is sorta the 'wolf guarding the chicken coop' thing (no offense LPE...trusted you guys with my car but just had to do a dyno test myself)
Couple observations... LPE did raised rev limiter to 7000 rpm... during calibration run I asked Dan (Currys dyno guru) to run past 6500 rpm ...oh..MR BLU is a Z51 6 sp... he took up to 6825 rpm and could have gone further but no need...and at that rpm both the dyno and speedo reading 155 mph... with the Corsa sports and X mid pipe it sounded sweet Now time for truth or consequences... first pull... no result...crap! (computer reset problem) Second pull... 417 WHP and 372 WT I like this! then third pull 420.7 WHP and 378.7 WT Damn, I was all smiles...there was a semi stunned look with a 'damn strong' from the Porsche guys...yes my fellow C6 drivers this Vette is a winner.
Calibration run..
Off of the screen>>>
And the all important chart itself...
What I really like about the LPE set up besides their stellar reputation is it is so driveable and stealth...no lope or peaky curves...linear and strong right up to the 7000 rpm range. And these numbers are without headers or CAI...both are OEM on MR BLU...
Sorry if this was lengthy but I have been rather jazzed since Saturday...

You've Thrown Down the Gauntlet
Michael,
Some very impressive numbers for Mr. Blu. Now, we'll see what LPE can do for me. You went with the Head/Cam kit and I'm going one step further - the 403 cid kit.
Plus I have the 32" LG Long Tube Headers and Hi-Flow cats and we both have a Corsa Sports exhaust. If I can't beat Mr. Blu when my car returns from LPE I'll have to trade it for a new Z06 and start all over again!
However, I don't think it'll come to that. Can you say 450 rwHP?

Congrats Michael ! I'm sure the look on the faces of those Porsche owners was priceless! No offense taken on the "second opinion" dyno runs, it keeps everybody honest!
Ben, you are next my friend, and I'm sure you will be just as happy as Michael is with his!

LPE has some great set-ups. I got to drive a C6 with the LPE 403 package that a friend of mine has and I'm not exaggerating when I say it felt nearly, if not, as strong as a C6 Z06 that I drove hard a few days before.
Good to see their H/C packages are running very, very strong too. Though, really what impresses me most is how liveable and refined they are. I swear I could not tell that there was a modded 403 under the hood of the C6. Pulled away from lights at around 1,000rpm no problem.

Hi Mr. Blu, I will obviously be asking this in front of LPE folks as they just posted. I sent them an email a few days ago about doing this package you did and got no response. Primary question was turnaround time and drivabiliity. I think you answered the second half of the question here by your comments but I'd like to know how long it took. Also, is their site pricing accurate or did the cost "somehow" creep up? I had asked them these questions along with the cost without the exhaust as I already have that, awaiting an answer, I hope.
Thanks for your input.

First, the entire LPE experience was excellent... car picked up on schedule (LPE arranged thru Pass Port for pick up and delivery...of course I paid for the service), work done on schedule (3 weeks) and the price we agreed to (there was a "discount" due to my C6 already having a Corsa Sport exhaust...at item that comes with the 366 package) was the final price...just simply a very positive experience with LPE

I replied to your PM on 10/28, did you not recieve the message?
Please email me directly at: epotter@lingenfelter.com if you did not get the message. I would be happy to give you the same treatment I gave Michael, and Ben above. Hopefully it was just some sort of internet "glitch" that prevented my message from getting through.

Lpe 403
I just ordered the LPE 403 package thru John P before the sale ended. I am as excited as a kid before Christmas. I think this is one of the best "bang for the buck packages" available for the C6.

Ed, I apologize, I am a new member and had no idea that you actually had your own mailbox on the forum. So I got your response. Thank you. Just want all to know that it was indeed quick.

Very nice numbers, Michael, very nice indeed!!! I have always liked Porsches, but have to agree, they are over-priced, at least in terms of performance. Good for Mr. Blu.

Do you know the specs on the camshaft? Is there much loap at idle?
I think guys at Lingenfelter treat their cam specs as proprietary info... and no to cam lop...that is the beauty of the set up...seamless and totally driveable without out odd engine characteristics unless you consider blow your hairpiece off power as odd
How much did the head cam package cost !
Go to here for info>>>
366 Package
And to all thanks for the comments...and great to hear from Cliff (we go WAY back to Audi TT days and now both are vette drivers)

Hi Zippin Zee,
This is the cam we installed in Mr Blu :
http://www.lingenfelter.com/Merchant...Category_Code=
Our cams aren't exactly proprietary, the reason we don't list the specs on the package page is that we choose a cam from our arsenal based on how the customer intends to use the car. If you call to discuss a package, that is one of the first questions I will ask you.
Hope this helps,
Ed

How is this cam in the long term? With the duel spring set up that you recommend for this cam will it be fairly durable, I know valve spring have come a long way but over .600 lift sounds like a lot to old schoolers like me. Is there a rule of thumb?
