the M6 and M5 are putting down almost identical numbers. if you can find the 1/4 mile times for the new M5, which i suspect are readily available by now...you will be very very very close for your comparo purposes.

Default Road & Track results

Per the Febuary 2006 issue of Road & Track, both the M5 and M6 achieved identical 0 to 60 times of 4.1 seconds, and identical 1/4 mile times of 12.4 seconds, with slightly different trap speeds. Testing was apparently done in Germany, as opposed to Road & Track's normal stateside test location. Note that the full 500 HP is only available temporarily.

Seems like the big BMW sedan can take the C6. That just doesn't seem right.

That all depends, we have a few stock C6s on here that have run 12.4s as well, one even goes 12.2s.

C6 = starts under $46K
M5/M6 = $90K+

They are remarkable cars with nice price tag along with it. On a track it might be a different story.

One of my business partners owns an M5 and he harps on this all the time.

the c6 and m5/6 are 2 completely different cars to begin with.....the c6 packs 100 horses less and has comparable numbers to the bmw. just remember, with slight mods u can take a m5/6 anyday.

I ran an M5 and pulled him hard on the top end. My car does have a few mods though, I was running 12.40's at the time.

I doubt you'll ever encounter one in real life and I doubt you'll ever see one at your local 1/4 mile track. So why worry about what I call a "ghost" car?

My first reaction is "so what?" It's like SunsetZ51 said, they are two different cars - apples and oranges. You do a few mods to go faster, then they do a few mods. It becomes a peeing contest. As my grandfather used to say, when you get in a peeing contest with a skunk, you both stink. Hey, the Beemer blends in with traffic (yeah, I know, sometimes that's a good thing) but my Vette stands out and that IS a good thing.

I've seen at least 5 M5s already here in North California, no M6s but I don't believe the M6 is available until August.

A lot of people are saying "who cares" and that a modded c6 can beat the m6.

I was asking cause i love cars and I like to be knowledgable about them. I especially like to know what car can outperform my c6. dont you guys???

anyways, it appear that the 0-60 and 1/4 mi times are dead even, so I will call this one a "drivers race"

why dont you put it on www.yousendit.com
then repost the link...

at least that way, it's "forum safe" in case youre not on a racetrack.

I dont think a stock c6 can hang with a stock M5 or M6 and especially from a roll. You are comparing the very best times from c6's to the mag tests for the m5 and M6 and that's not even. Yeah the chevy's are easier and MUCH cheaper to mod but there is no comparison other than flat out speed. The vette should beat either on a course. BMW's cost that much for a reason. they are worth it. I see another pissing contest like your brothers are doing about the porsche and the Z coming..

Around my area, I have seen like 8 M5's, and 2 M6's. The problem is, most of the people that buy these type of cars don't like to race them. In my experience every time I pull up next to one, it always seems to be an 80 year old who can barely push the pedal down.

That's what the Mustang guys say about Corvette drivers and so on and so on.
