Default 10.5" Rims On A6, With 305's? I NEED OPINIONS!

typo on title ....its an m6
i am thinking about buying 18X10.5" rims for the rear of my c6 with drag radials.

Here is where I need opinions...... 18 X 10.5" rims with 305/45 nitto drags...
1. What do you guys think the clearance in the rear would be like with 45's with the 18" rim?

2. Do you think the 305's and or the 10.5" rim size will stick out to much??

Thanks for any opinions!

I have 18x10.5 inch rims on my C6 for the track. They are widened fronts, they fit perfect.

The way the wheel fits will depend on the offset number. My finished numbers on my wheel that I had widened would be offset positive 83mm 18x10.5.

Most aftermarket 18x10.5 inch wheels have a proper offset for a C5 or C5 Z06. These wheels will fit a little further out towards the wheel well. Probably flush or just outside of flush.

Like I said this gave me a stock looking fitment on the outside and I had just enough clearance on the inside with a BFG 295/35/18. It looks real tight with the car jacked up, but when you let it down it fits fine. I think a 305-315 would fit but the 45 series sidewall is going to be way to tall if you ask me. Not sure if it will rub or not though.

Those tires are WAY too tall, those tires were designed for the Ford F-150 Lightning and is almost 29 inches tall, they probably won't even fit under the wheel wells and would likely lower your stock 3.42 gears down to like a 3.10 LOL.
I would look into the Nitto 305x35x18, that tire is actually the one 18" drag radial made that comes closest to our stock overall tire height (26.8).

Thank you , that solves the height problem...... how about the 10.5 " rims?? They would be from factory reproductions....... not sure what the offset would be and if they will look bad with stock front rims

Thanks for your opinion

305s will fit on the 10.5" rims nicely and will fit on the car as well but as stated above, they will most likely stick out a little bit due to the wrong (C5) offset that most aftermarket C6 rims come in. Some of the 9.5s work a little better but then you might be pushing it a little bit with a 305 on there.

If you are looking at the C5 Z06 wheel 18x10.5 inches their web page has offsets published for each size.

http://www.factoryreproductions.com/z06corvette.html

Their 18x10.5 has a positive 58 offset. That will basically set you out further towards the fender. I would think just slightly outside of your actual fender lip. But you would need to try on a pair to be sure. For just DR use at the track I would think it would be fine.

The stock offset for your 19x10 inch wheel is 79. But that does not necesarilly mean a 79 offset in a 18x10.5 inch wheel would be ideal. Like I said above around 83 mm looks stock.

I like my wheel style to match when I am at the track though. That is why I widened some OEM fronts and had them chromed.

Their web page must be out of date. They only have C4 C5 wheels listed. The 17x11 inch wheel for the ZR1 would be a good choice if it fits and you are not worried about how it looks.

I am not sure what sizes the C6 repo's come in. I bet if it is an 18 inch wheel it will have a 58 or 65 offset. 65 would not fit too bad.

I was looking on Bob's House of Wheels page and he does have C6 repo's in 18x10.5 inches. I would bet they are 58 MM offset. Just call Bob and ask him, he is an expert on wheels and a good vendor.

Having just been through all of this, I agree with Shurite. All the 10.5 repros are for the C5 and will not fit the C6. In the end, I did like Shurite: got a set of 18x9.5 C5 rear Y2Ks (perfect fitment of C6 rear) and sent them to Weldcraft to get them widened to 10.5. I'm getting them in net week and will comment.

The outside lip of the wheels you bought will be 27 mm further out towards the fender. That is about 1 inch, you will have 15mm less clearance on the inside.

They will not rub and will be just outside the fender well. But not really far enough out that Z fenders would look right.

For the wheel to fit stock like with the Z06 fenders you need to go out about 45 mm further than the stock wheel.

I would say if it is just for the track you are ok.

True, that's (65) what Dennis (above) is using, fits beautifully.

Rotary why did you get the C5 wheel? Why not use the C6 front?

I think your clearance on the inside is going to be very close. I hope it works, if not I have some wheel adapters, (spacers)

18x9.5 chrome C6s with 65mm offset, fits nicely just like your set up though those 295x35 BFGs do fit better on a 10.5 than a 9.5 I think.

Yea that would fit nice. I probably should have went this route, would have saved me some money.

That is what this fellow should have bought instead of the 58 mm offsets.
