q. back: why would you? isn't the clear bra sufficient?

Not necessarily a bad idea. I am having Sun Tint in Austin install a clear bra on my '07 C6 Coupe right now. Will pick it up later today. Maybe I will use my vinyl bra in addition to the clear bra for a trip next weekend for the very reason you mentioned. Thanks for the idea.

lemme put it this way: if you put something on the clear bra such as wax, polish, whatever you use, most bugs should wipe off. now, if you put your fave elixir on last June, maybe not!
but if you're going on a trip and shortly before you leave you put on some stuff, I have used a cloth rag and water to wipe off bugs.
maybe there are others whose experience is different, but that's been mine. and I've traveled cross country (different car) with clear bra on, in the summer.
