Default Painting calipers

Thoroughly cleaned and wire wheeled. Surface is shiny. Do I also need to sand before paint or did the wire wheel do the job?
Also, I have ceramic pads with the medal back clip on covers. Do you guys paint the back of the outboard pad for a clean look.

Do not paint the back of the pads. Make sure to mask off the pistons and rubber parts.

You do not need to sand, but you should use a spray brake cleaner to remove any debris from the surface of the metal you want to paint as a final preparation.

This.

And I have always used an etching primer and then use whatever colored paint you chose.

I haven't had problems with painting the back of the pad. Some come painted already like EBC.
