Nervous Viper owner..What do the LS3's run
Hi guys...
Im a former 2004 c6 coupe owner that pushed 378/370 SAE with mild bolt ons.Sold that for a tuned mild bolt on 99 Viper pushing 445/500 SAE....Wrecked that and now have a 2003 SRT10 Viper with a few bolt ons pushin 470 rwhp SAE...
But like I said I was a 2004 C5 owner. Naturally i wanted the C6Z06. But here in hawaii they were over 100K back in 2006. As well after reading the numbers from the C6's of high 12's..Well honestly I just wasnt that impressed...
So I went to the dark side and got the 99 Viper..Wrecked it in a heated battle with a c6Z06 and now have the SRT10...
Anyways back to my question....I wasnt impressed with the LS2's..But these LS3's seem to be a totally differant beaste..Now my SRT10 isnt stock pushin the 470 rwhp SAE with a few bolt ons. But lets just say it was.....And dynoing 440 rwhp SAE...
I could sit hear and say how an SRT10 runs an 11.7 at 123 mph..But only the best drivers hit that. Realistically under normal atmospheric conditions with an average driver they run in the 12.1 at 121 mph range...
So here's the part were im nervous.I just read of an bolt on LS3 C6 trapping 124 mph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DAYUM..Thats moving for bolt ons only...
So again..An averagly driven 2003-2006 SRT10 will run a 12.1 at 121 mph.. What are the average times of the stock LS3's....
( PS..It's bad enough that a stock C6Z06 an pull a stock SRT10 viper by 2-3 cars from 70-140 mph....Do Vipers also need to keep an eye open for the LS3 vettes?)
Thanks for any info as I may get an auto LS3 vette in the future for the wife/daughter

Stock LS3's don't trap 121mph. I have been 12.494@115.54mph in my bone stock Z51 2LT LS3 6spd. Jschindler has been 12.41@similar mph as well and there have been like one or two others that have been in the lower 12's bone stock, or showed an 1/8th time/mph that would have put them in low 12's had they been at a 1/4 mile track. You need not be worried about a stock LS3. Bolt on LS3's, thus far, are definitely high 11sec cars as pretty much every bolt-on time I have seen has been high 11's or had the power to do so. Average bolt-on mph is ~120mph with the strongest one having gone 124.4mph. HOWEVER, that mph was achieved with a can of torco and a tune specific for it. No matter how you slice it, that is not pump gas octane and it is definitely making a difference with a tune specifically for the octane it is producing with the torco.

Thanks..This is great imformation....So bone stock nonthing to worry about but with bolt ons about even to a stock SRT10 viper ( 2003-2006)....
Well I never worried about bolt on LS2 vettes. So the LS3's seem to be right their with the bolt on C5Z06's....
DAMMIT..Stock ZR1's..Stock C6Z06's and now bolt on LS3's/C5Z06's are all making me nervous ( The LS3's more than the c5Z06's as C5Z06's dont have a better top speed than 170 mph)...
The vettes have really stepped it up big time with these LS3's. SWEET

Dear Mr Viper Owner...I have an LS2 you should worry about, so does a few others here on the board...lol.
The LS2s, bone stock, still hold the best 1/4 mile times(12.2) over the LS3s, and yes, on the dyno, the LS3s show much more HP gain per bolt on, but unless you race on the printed page, it's only numbers.

Unless you expect everyone to fill out a mod list race application form before you run them, how are you going to know if they're stock, bolt-on, FI, etc? You wont know until after it's over if you had to worry about them. Any LSx motor has the potential snake-boy.

the bad news is, if you lose the race, and the other car (sic:LS2/LS3) happens to be bone stock or cai only....you're gonna feel sooooo bad. These cars, while not as pricey as a Viper, are no joke, and maybe on paper, the Viper has numbers over us, but the track is a different world and its driver vs. driver. While some car companies print the *best* the car you're buying can do, it seems GM left a bit on the table for us lowly Vette owners to find, say high 10's for the Z and low 12's for the C6....you won't find those numbers in the dealership brochure.

This list is meticulously maintained by forum member Tommy D and is perhaps the most respected list of C6 Corvette quarter mile times, both LS2 and LS3, on the World Wide Web.
If your interests lead you to wonder what the C6 Z06s are doing, there is a list here, as well at the following link.

Good luck in finding what you are looking for.

Hey guys Im not your enemy..LOL remember I bought a brand new off the show room floor vette and loved it...
The drag strip here in Hawaii closed down 2 years ago..But while it was open I used by bell tronics FX2 timer at the drag strip and found it be be VERY acurate to my time slip run after run..Usually within 1.5 tenths and 1.5 mph..Many times dead on..
So I have a flat 1/4 mile spot that Ive been using the FX2 timer at for about 5 years now..
(Area is 1000 ft above sea level and the runs are all in typical 70-80 degree Hawaiian weather)
-My powerdyned V6 1998 camaro ran 14.9 at 97 mph (best of 100 plus runs)
-My 2004 LS6 heads and 224/224 cammed mild bolt on coupe C5 ran 12.68 at 112 mph (best of 100 plus runs)
-My 99 rt10 Viper with No cats/roller rockers/AEM tune/air intake/KN filters ran 12.2 at 122 mph ( best of 75 plus runs)
-My current 2003 SRT10 with roller rockers/KN filters/muffler delete/cat delete has ran 11.7 at 124 mph ( best of 35 runs)
-Buddies stock manual 2005 NSX went 13.2 at 107 mph (best of 5 runs)
-Buddies E55AMG went 12.6 at 113 mph with bigger intercooler and headers ( best of 3 runs)
-Buddies 650 rwhp "pump gas" Supra went 13.1 at 128 mph ( best of 5 runs)
My 2003 SRT10 is currently having a competition coupe camshaft installed. Cant wait to go test it out after wards!!!!!!!!!!!
But man these LS3's hitting 120 PLUS mph with just bolt ons is VERY IMPRESSIVE

Majority of Corvettes lurking around the streets are not likely to be modified.
95% of LS3's Corvettes will be stock.
4% of them will have some sort of modification.
1% of them will have something very special that will make alot of cars look slow.
Honestly, I wouldn't be too nervous.............. till you hit the last 5%......

So with stickier tires and a 180 pound passanger I think 133 or so could have been obtained.
