Default rearend gears for A6 ???????

I have a 07 Z51 A6 and I was wanting to put a gear in.It has the 2.56 in now and I was thinking maybe a 3.42 or 3.15.And I was wondering if I could get some pointers from someone who has a A6 with a different rearend gear other than stock.

Thanks, Guys

minimal mpg loss, if any, maximum fun factor.

Depends on your goal is it strickly a street car or 1/4 mile or ???

If you only plan on boltons the 315's will help untill you get fast enough to hit 4th, if you want 125 trap's then the stock gears are great.

Generally speaking you want to finish the 1/4 at redline in a gear, slower cars more gears help, faster cars work better with less gears.

Where did you get the 3.15 ratio gears from and who installed them? I am from NC and have been looking to have this done.
