Z06 Oil Cooler bolts right on to LS3/Z51 oil lines!!!
On my last trip out to Spring Mountain my oil temps hit 290 on my last lap. I see 270 on a hard mountain run. After looking at my options, and doing some research, the Z06 oil cooler seemed like a good choice.
I got a good deal on a next to new cooler, and decided to see if my Z51 lines would mate up with the Z06 cooler. The Z51 cooler lines are in the same position as the Z06 lines where they enter the cooler. The Z06 cooler is about 3 times the size of the Z51 cooler, but starts off in the same place, and goes clear across the shroud. I checked on the part # of the both Z06 and Z51 lines, and they were different, but the end of the Z51 line slid right into the Z06 cooler, and the same clips now hold it in place. The holes to mount the Z06 cooler where already present on the far side of the shroud, so it bolted right in. I guess it's the same shroud.
I started the car, and there are no leaks!! The Z06 cooler even fits nicely with the Vararam!
I've got a nice long Canyon run planned for Sunday, and it's a bit hot here in LA, so it should be a good test!!

Have you done the Z06 front brake duct extensions yet? I guess I'll also add another to your list of toys you need: Z06 differential cooler.
Nice information to know on the oil cooler though.

the oil cooler swap sounds great, what temps did you run in NORMAL city driving vs highway driving?? and how does that compare to the Z cooler??
I'm glad you shared this info, I live in Florida and the temps get up there,
I plan to run at Sebring Raceway and cooler oil temps will help.
THANKS!!!!!
Phil

but I have a pretty good idea what temps were on the track and canyons. I will report back when I get some comparitive #s with the Z cooler.
Like I said, I'm headed out Sunday for a nice spirited drive in the mountain with very hot temps here in CA right now!
Reports are there will be a VERY HOT Torco Model on this run, pics to follow!!!

Good point.... One would think that there would be an Earl's or a Setrab cooler that would work (as you said, probably even better!) at a slightly better price.
