Should I use Mobil 1 or go to some other synthetic like Royal Purple or Amsoil? What weight oil are you using? How many quarts does the a Z51 LS3 take?

Over the life of the car you might save a hundred bucks, why would you care, use what is recommended, the car was tested and developed with Mobile 1 5w-30W.

Yep, I pick a couple of the on sale Costco 6-packs up too. Wonder what the self life is of new oil? I would have bought more, but some of it would probably sit for years since I only change oil once a year due to low mileage use.

It's better actually, based on the oil analysis results I've seen. Everyone assumes that just because the Corvette comes from the factory with Mobil 1, that GM somehow "recommends Mobil 1" Nowhere in the owner's manual does it say that they recommend this oil. And don't assume that it's the best oil out there just because it's the factory fill. The decision to make Mobil 1 factory fill was decided more in the boardroom than it was in an engineer's office. (in other words, it's a business decision, not a decision made by the engineers testing)

I doubt the difference in performance between any of these full synthetics is even going to make a difference in real world use anyway. Even old dyno oil is way better than it use to be ... just change it when you're supposed to and it will all perform well.
