20 inch rims on C6
Has anyone tried putting 20 inch rims on the rear and 19 inch rims on the front of a C6? Vette Mag, Oct 08 in an article called New Shoes talks about putting 19x19.5 on the front and 20x11 on the rear. The article also stated that they put 275/30ZR19 in place of the stock 245/40ZR18 on the front and 305/25ZR20 in place of the stock 285/35ZR19 on the rear. This was all accomplished without having to replace the rear quater panels with Z06 quarters. I am ready to put new tires and wheels on the C6 and moving up to a larger tire and rim size has caught my interest.
Any experience or thoughts.

You can run the same size tires (even larger) on 18s and 19s without going with the widebody. You will also save weight, and more importantly, rotational weight. I'd run the smallest wheel you need to clear the brakes or the brakes you plan on installing. You can run 295s (at least) in the front and 325s in the rear on 18s front and 19s rear. Talk to John at CCW or just do a search here.

I have the 19x9.5 (275-30ZR19) F / 20x11 (305-25ZR20) mounted on the rears. I have no problem at all with hitting or rubbing on stock finders, an its lowered an 1 1/2".
Good Luck-make sure we get some pics-

They will fit. For sure.
My car sits lower than others and I am still OK. Just extreme bumps may get a nudge.
Here's mine

Yes, you can do 19" F and 20" R.
There are negatives though:
1. Heavier wheel, weight counts for ride and handling
2. Less sidewall on the tire, even harder ride
3. Limited choice of tires, especially runflats
4. Expense of new wheels
5. Expense of new tires

I read the same article and they used 19/20 Forgeline rims and Yokohama rubber. Looked great and handled better from what the article stated. The forged rims also weighed less than the stock rims and runflats even though they were larger diameter and width......
Very interesting read.... article stated that every 1 lb of unsprung weight decrease equals 8 lbs of sprung weight. So a rim that weighs 1lb less (x4) equals 8 lbs (x4) in weight savings = 32 lbs.
They decided to use a can of fix-a-flat and a cell phone for tire issues. Reasoning: that was good enough for the C5 Z from the factory.

1. You can do a bigger wheel combo and do a lighter package, but you do have to watch how you build them. Don't expect a 20" chrome wheel to be lighter.
2. Sidewall height is going to be a factor in how the car rides.
3. There is a limited choice in run flats, no matter what you do. 19/20" wheels there is a limited choice.
4. Wheels are not that much different than most other custom setups. Again, depending on the combination how much going to the bigger diameter is going to effect pricing. Tires will be more of a factor than wheels.
I'm more than happy if anyone has any questions about wheel and tire packages.

keyplyr - I am not (usually) a fan of the 19/20 swap .......... BUT your setup looks awesome. Now what they look like on my MS coupe? Hmmmm
If you would, please pm the make and model of the wheels and tires.
