Default Dart 225 vs l92

Has anyone here run the dart 225s? Im leaning towards the L92 over the darts because I dont know anything about the darts. I ran the 205 darts on my c5 with the mti R1 cam which I now feel was too much cam for the low stall A4 I was running. The car managed 11.6s @ 118 but I want my C6 vert to be in the 11.2 @ 121-122 club. I can get dart225s and L92s with good parts for the same price. The good thing about the L92s is that they have proven themselves with many dif. cams over and over. So are my goals of 11.2 @ 122 out of reach? Im leaving a little ET on the table because Im not looking for 1.4 60' times. I think a high 1.5 or low 1.6 will still get me 11.2s if I have enough power to run 122. Any thoughts?

Go with the Darts. Dart is a proven race head. Not a modified street head

Good Luck on your project

What results have been seen with the darts on the corvette? I have searched and found nothing. A few have installed them over on LS1tech but no track or dyno results.

Look on LS1 Tech. There are a few good threads. Oh wait. Those were the Dart racing heads for the Dart billet blocks.

Never mind

In addition to flowing great out of the box, the great advantage of the L92/LS3 heads is they are so reasonably priced. They are only $399 each complete and $175 bare.
I assume you mean the Dart LS1 Pro 1 225 heads? They are $1862 per pair and still use the old cathedral intake port design.
The price difference alone makes the L92 a hands down favorite compared to the $2k price for most aftermarket heads.

I can get the dart pro 1 225s for 1400 complete brand new so its kinda a wash on cost. Where can I find the new bare L92s for 175? the cheapest i found so far is 205 each bare. If i run the darts im in for the 1400 for the heads. If i run the l92s Im in about 1150 for them with all good parts(921 kit ,titanium retainers, stainless valves etc) plus l76 intake, rockers, stands, and whatever else is needed to complete the swap. The L92s seem so tempting . Who has found a good deal on the intake, rockers, heads etc and where did u buy them?
thanks, Norm

If the heads are 410 and the springs are 600, where are you getting 16 stainless valves for 140 bucks?

The heads aare also going to be needing a milling to get the compression up since they come with a stock GM finish and have 70cc chambers.

The price with stainless valves is more like 1290 and milling is 125-150 so the total is going to be in the 1400-1450 range plus expect the extra steps of shipping or trips to a machine shop to get it all done.

I have a brand new assembled set and an LS3 manifold (not the L76 one) for sale and it would all save you 100 or so. These are all new perfect parts as I quoted you. If you want new parts and are looking to save 100 I think you should reconsider the deal...I'll do 1800 shipped.

I found one local with a 232 torquer 2 that did 455 rwhp with the base darts. Thats about 20 lower than the L92's would do but the bigger the cam the more I would seek out a better head since space is a premium. The L92's are great with a 228XFI to 230XFI cam in the 475rwhp range.

Call Scoggin Dickey Chevrolet, 800 456-0211. I usually talk to Marty, but any of the guys can help you. You can also check out their web site: http://www.sdpc2000.com/.
You do know that you must replace the intake if you switch to the L92 heads? It is also a great idea to mill the L92 heads to regain some compression.

No just the heads. The exhaust rockers you have now are the same so you only need a set of the offset intake side rockers. The stands are 8 bucks each as are the rockers.

Where can you get the comp 921's for 533?

Porting a manifold is 250 plus shipping and the manifold is how much? You save with the LS3 I have at 450 shipped outright with no core. The L76 is 359 at Livernois. I didnt check other places but since it doesnt work with the stock LS2 manifold on your car, you have to price in the total for a rectangle port manifold. The porting was pretty required on my build-ups. I doubt you will find a total lower for the whole package I have. My LS3 also has the sound deadening cover with it. I dont think you can get an actual LS3 at this time anyway.

So using your numbers

1171 + 359 + 250= $1780.00 Then you have to have the parts shipped. At 1800 shipped and already done including milling and assembly, it seems a bargain to me for anyone interested. PM if interested.

These are new parts never used. A customer backed out of a H/C install.
