18 11sec passes by a Bonestock LS3 plus a vid
New best in my new car. I used to have an 06 mn6 car, but I picked up an 08 and ran incredible numbers w/ it friday. I thought for sure I would be number one on the list but alas I missed that by a tenth. I do have the fastest auto though. Here`s the skinny:
2008, A6, z51, Npp exhaust, BONESTOCK down to the paper airfilter and 28lbs of air in the runflats.
This was done in Petersburg, Va at VMP. It was 33-34 degrees all day today -1200DA to -1500DA, and they preped the track awesome. I did not spin at all. I launched off idle w/ only competitive driving mode on, and in sport instead of drive. However the 3-4 shift does hang up so I shifted out of sport into drive at 5500rpm in 3rd gear to get the crisper 1-2 and 2-3 that sport mode gives you and actually shifting properly into 4th that drive gave me. This was a track rental and I got in 23 runs. Man it was a blast!!!
Here`s the skinny:
Virginia Motorsports park
11/21/08 32-34degrees
1.83 60'
5.043 330'
7.675 @ 93.97mph 1/8 mile
9.914 1000'
11.806 @ 118.82mph 1/4 mile
My best mph of the day was 119.00, 18 11sec passes, 4 12.0xpasses and 1 12.11pass. Only minor issue was a headwind. Otherwise you couldn`t ask for better conditions. Now its time for mods!!!
2slips:
11.87 run, I wish somebody would have got the 11.80 pass but oh well at least its laying the smack down on a 08 GT-500:

Great runs!!! Those LS3's are very strong. I'm surprised that the tranny is shifting into 4th gear, must be right at the finish line. Dare I say that you would go faster with 2.56 gears since it wouldn't waste a shift at the end of the run.

Awesome!
Very cool Mike, love the vids! Congrats on the car & the ETs you must be very pleased. Call & catch up, love to hear about the track & the new wheels.

Congrats again.
Possibly, it might be a trade off though between the better average gearing in the first three gears all the way up until that point versus the time lost on the (normally slow) shift.

By the way, you are NUMBER 1 on my list of stock C6's. I still have a problem with a car that was previously tuned, then turned back to stock. So you are on the top of my list.

Hey Mike,
Finally a LS3 without any question runs an eleven second quarter mile time great job.
Now we all know it can be done,

Congrats!!!!
I'm having the same problem with my 3-4 shift in S mode. It just hangs there before shifting. Did you run it all the way out in S mode at all? If so what was the times when the tranny had the long pause? I want to see the difference in times from the pause and no pause. I think the 3-4 pause kept me from breaking into the 11's yesterday (12.04)

Congrats again!
I am really happy (and relieved) to see another LS3 in the 11s. If you keep it stock for a little longer you'll definitely come down into the 11.7 areas, and who knows, maybe you could do the 11.6 if you come up to atco or englishtown (new jersey) and be the number one on everyone's list haha.
As a side note to the one comment, I don't use the list as a "top spot" thing. I use it as a "this is what the cars can do" thing. It doesn't matter to me if I hold the top spot or not, I'm more of a scientist. As long as the information is out there that these cars are capable of these type of runs I'm happy.
I knew the minute I test drove the LS3 that it was an 11 second car and that has certainly held true and I can't wait to see the swarm of 11 second runs in this cold weather. Keep up the good work!

Thanks everybody! As far as the number one thing goes I appreceate it guys, but I had a great time hanging out w/ great friends, doing what I love to do and the car performed way past my expectations. Thats what its all about, having fun. I`m ok w/ number 2. Won`t get another try at #1 as I will begin to mod over the winter. Then I can try and break Dennis record for Bolt-on, like that will ever happpen...
Bain,
The 3-4 issue in sport is very irritating, I too kthe car back to GM several times and all they say is we can`t take it to 114mph at WOT so we can`t duplicate the problem. Basicly told me not to drive it that fast. I replied I bought a vette not a cobalt. But anyways..
Talked to a couple of tuners, seems like you can tune it out by lowering the shift point and raising the rev limiter.
What I did at the track was run in sport to get the crisp quick 1-2 and 2-3 but at 5500rpm in 3rd I shifted it into drive and it would shift normally w/ D`s cadillac smooth shifts. This worked great. You probably lost a 1/2 of a tenth to a full tenth, the biggest thing I noticed before doing my trick was it dropped 2mph leaving it in S.
