Default Rt side muffler removel trick

What is it?

Looking for help from those that have retro fitted the Z06 or NPP mufflers to there cars.

I'm installing Z06 mufflers on my 05, I had no trouble getting the left side muffler out after dropping the X pipe. The right side looks to me like it won't come out without dropping the rear axle assembly, and in fact the manual refers to this. There must be annother way.

Anyone know what the trick is?

I havent done it but instead of dropping the assy just unbolt in about an inch. Supposedly that will give you just enough clearance

Manual or Auto? I put the rear wheels on ramps, then jacked the car using jacking pucks on each side to unload the suspension. I then removed the muffler hanger brackets that attach to the rear of the car. The right side muffler would hit the bracket, just as it was about to come out. Both came out pretty easy.

Simple, remove the left muffler first. You need to move the right side muffler way to the left to twist it out.

I've done this twice and did it this way both times with no drama. The first time was more difficult as it was my first time but there is no need to force anything. It drops down and to the left with a slight twisting motion. I did not lower the sway bar either time.

Drop the cradle about 1 1/2 inches, she will come out. Watch how easy it goes back in.

I do know that to remove the left side with an Auto transmission you need to have the car in S not in park. if anyone has done seen underneath there they should know what Im talking about.
