Default Best NON BOTTOM BREATHER Intake for LS3??

Like the title says - Im thinking about an intake , but I DD the car and do not want to have to think about parking when it rains .

What are the best options for an intake , or is the LS3 intake good enough that its not worth upgrading to a conventional aftermarket intake ?

Thanks

Default BPP Vortex V2

I would recommend the Vortex V2 from breathless performance,
check them out at

www.breathlessperformance.com

It's what i currently have on my 08 LS3 and i would not trade it for any other. very nicely done plus at least a 30HP gain or more with a tune.
hope this helps

Callaway and Vararam own the market for non-Z06 C6's. Vararam isn't on your short list, so I vote for the Callaway. The intake shroud needs to be cut so be sure and tell your vendor of choice that you want to be able to return to stock and that you'll need a replacement shroud for the install. That will add $50 or so to the install but simplify your life later.

The ONLY problem with the stock intake appears to be a restrictive filter. The rest of the assembly is second to none, period. Rumor has it the ZR1 filter is much less restrictive. IF this is true, then all you need is the ZR1 filter.

Probably one of the best aftermarket air intakes is the Airaid. Just look at it's large opening where it attaches to the filter. Most of the other aftermarket types are necked down to attach to the filter, then flatten out in the middle, then neck down again to attach to the TB. The Airaid has a large opening that gradually necks down to the TB. And, looks very similar to the stock LS3 intake.

I had planned on buying the Airaid, but now I think I'm going to try the ZR1 filter (after further research to verify it is less restictive) and combine it with the vette-air scoop. My plans are to compare the stock filter v. the ZR1 filter v. no filter at all, while using the vette-air. I'll test at the track with back to back runs watching trap mph. I'll have to wait until it cools down out here, though.

I would spend the money on getting cold air to the engine, and that does not require a new intake or $400.00.

Amazing actual scientific data to back up a purchase? Unheard of

Can't wait for the results

I always hear people saying it's more important to get cold air to the intake instead of an actual new intake.

I have an LS2 and I have this intake http://www.corvetteguys.com/c6-bbk-chrome-cai.html

It's a BBK cold air intake. To be honest, I liked the way it looked and it seemed to get decent reviews online. What would I need to do to get cold air to it. It's just open in the engine bay.

Default BPP Vortex V2

I do have the tune to back that up, i just have not scanned it on my computer , but when i do i'll send it to you. My custom dyno tune does not just include the intake, i put a cam, headers with no cats, npp exhaust, ported throttle body and intake. But i do know the intake accounted for about 30 or so hp.

I ended up with 550hp at the crank 465hp at the wheels, pretty nice numbers for me , plus the cars runs like a beast.

Trust me i would not steer you the wrong way, well whatever you decide , good luck on making your baby faster!

In other words there is no data because the #s include a whole host of other changes and it is an assumption the intake was worth 30 RWHP.

I'm not knocking the BPP intake, only that while you may be happy with your combo, it offers no proof.

Like I said a tune gave me 23 rwhp. Tune only! no other mods at the time.

Typically a CAI does not show any real gains on a Dyno..But the ramming effect of the cooler air under speed makes the power. The amount of air, the temperture and the Velocity of the air flow...plays into the HP formula.

The LS2 seems to have the worst intakes of the C6's. An intake might be a good thing. The LS3 and 7 have a pretty good intake from the factory.

I have an LS2 and I also added the Vette-Air... Real SOTP feel when hitting it from a roll on Airaid says 12hp
