Default LS2 Hot Cam dyno

2007 C6 M6, only mods are Callaway Honker intake, Melrose Motorsports headers with high flow cats, Corsa Sport cat back, GM Hot Cam and a tune.
The before dyno was with just the intake, headers, Corsa and a tune.

I was a little suprised it didn't make better low end tq numbers but all in all I'm happy with the car it drives like stock, sounds mean at idle and drivability is the same as stock.

I know that these aren't the huge numbers that others have made with different cams, but this cam will be easy on the valvetrain.
I haven't seen anyone post a graph for a LS2 and Hot Cam so here it is.

I'd bet that a ported FAST would open up the midrange (3000 rpm+) very nicely for you.

Enjoy the new power.

Did you stay with the stock valvesprings since the lift is so low?

30rwhp is about what I would expect that cam to pick up. I think the dyno you're on is a little stingey with the numbers though, because 367 is low for a header/tune M6 car. I've seen LS1s hit 400 rwhp with the hot cam...so it just varies dyno to dyno.

Track results and pleasing the butt-dyno are what really matter in the end.

Thanks for posting this. 30hp at the wheels seems about right, gm claims 50hp on the engine for an LS3.

Easy on the valvetrain is a great idea. You won't have to worry about overstressed valvesprings and having those replaced periodically.

Thanks for sharing!

You could also consider getting a ported LS2 intake and TB from Spin for roughly a 1/4 of the total cost of a Fast intake and easily pick-up 10-15 rwhp/rwtq!

The fast is so worth it... area under the curve is dramatically different

I like the idea of this cam with 1.8 (1.85?) rockers. Of course, that's not a cost effective way to go. But your lift is still very reasonable and you probably could use the stock valve train.

I believe the hotcams lift of .525 is on a 1.6 rocker.

With the 1.7 LS2 rocker it would be closer in the neighborhood of .550. I dont know that I'd want any more han that on the stock valvetrain.

Here's the specs off of GM Performance Parts:

88958733
LS Hot Cam
I: 219 E: 228
(1.7 rocker) I: 525 E: 525
112 Same cam as in kit P/N 12480033

The lift with 1.8 rockers would be about .555, or .571 with 1.85. Lobe lift is .308.

at the point you are going to spend money for new rockers, just man-up and go with an XFI intake and Xer exhaust lobe and buy real springs. You can put the rockers on, but you'll still want to check the valvesprings and by the time you check them, just replace them. the Patriots aren't that expensive.

The lower rpm AFR is rich, did your tuner work in that area to try & better the torque?

He said that there is a little transition before the power enrichment came in. Later graphs were smoother, this is just the one he printed out for me.

Obviously I wasn't going for max power with this cam, I wanted something that would give me good torque and was easy on the valvetrain. Also this is the cam Katech suggested for a street LS2.
I did leave the valve springs stock. I love the sound of the car at idle and the street manners are great.

Look @ your torque @ 3000 rpm @ your AFR.

Then look just under 3000 rpm & just over, notice how your torque follows the AFR curve. Your torque dips as the AFR goes rich prior to 3k rpm, then after 3k rpm as the AFR starts to go leaner the torque begins to improve again.
