Default Help me identify this clutch! Is it an LS7?

Oh, mighty gear-heads of the Corvetteforum, I come to you with my delimma...

So, I'm in my engine and thought it'd be worth swapping the clutch while I'm here.

So, I buy (from a private party) what I'm told is an LS7 clutch off a crate motor. No miles.

I am now looking at it beside my original stock LS3 clutch (2008).

There's a pretty big difference.

Can anyone tell me if the clutch on the right in these pictures is indeed an LS7 clutch (pressure plate, clutch disk, and flywheel)? All the pictures I can find on the internet of an LS7 clutch don't look like this. The flywheel seems too "thick", and the clutch disk doesn't look anything like my LS3 clutch disk. The pressure plate seems to be the same.

My current guess is either: a) this is not an LS7 clutch, or b) this is a newer design for the LS7 cluch (because the only pictures I can find of LS7 clutches seem to be from 2006/2007 time frame).

Thanks in advance for any input!

Left = my original clutch from a 2008 LS3.
Right = ??? (is it LS7?)

(sorry for the cruddy iPhone pics)

This probably won't help much, but you might weigh the flywheel of the clutch you just bought. I know that our cars have a 26 or 28-ish pound flywheel, but the caddys have one in the mid to high 40s. So maybe the clutch and flywheel did come off an LS7, but perhaps it was not a Corvette.

Hope this helps,
Dale

That looks like a dual mass flywheel. Not a LS7, the clutch on a LS7 is the same as your LS3. The same part number through GM.

Do not attempt to install the clutch on the right, your hydraulics on the slave will be off.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm really disappointed to hear this.

Any idea what this setup is actually for?

One reference I've found is on LS1tech that might indicate it's for a Cadillac CTS-V. Any ideas?
