Do the dealers in my area suck or are they all the same? two dealers said they know nothing or havent heard of any recall on the vettes yet. one guy asked me "are you sure you arent talking about the Cobalt?" i said i know the difference between a vette and a Cobalt. anyways, makes me wonder "how can the media print these recalls and gets the word out, yet the dealers know nothing about them? Has anyone spoken to a dealer yet about this specific recall?????

Would someone please post the VIN range? My '07 w/3LT was built just after the model year changed (early August 2006). I've had one bout with SAHS which my dealer fixed under warranty. If there's any possibility at all that their fix was different from the one in this recall, I want to know.

I just called both my dealer and the 800 # listed in the article. Neither of these folks know about the steering column problem. The guy at Chevy's 800 # said there was no "bulletin" about this yet. What up with that?

I received my "official" safety recall notice in the mail yesterday for a replacement top and the AH issue:

"Your Chevrolet dealer will install a new design roof panel, and inspect the wire connection in the steering column, and if necessary, install an additional clip to secure the wire connection. These services will be performed for you at no charge. Because of service scheduling requirements, it is likely that you dealer will need your vehicle longer than the actual inspection and service correction of approximately 2 hours to 2 hours and 45 minutes.

You should contact your Chevrolet dealer to arrange a service appointment as soon as possible."

Hello,

I am not authorized to post the VIN#’s because not all of the vehicles in that VIN range are involved. I can tell you that if you have a 2007, then your vehicle is not involved.

Thanks. I guess I'll just have to wait for the recall notice in the mail. I have only the glass top, so I don't have to worry about that.

Default While we're at it...

Since the car is going in for service on this safety issue with the steering column, could they extend the recall for service on the airbags since I constantly have to adjust the seat to get the light to go out? Sometimes it doesn't even go out, no matter what I do. Sorry for this being a little off topic, but to me, it is ALSO a major safety issue. While the car's in the shop, how about we fix this too?

/rant off.

my 07 gmc sierra had a recall regarding airbag sensor malfunction. they checked to see if any moisture had leaked under the drivers seat which can cause problems with the airbag circuitry located there. has this been a problem in the corvette also?

The top recall does not give you a "new" top. Your existing one is removed and partly disassembled, with the latches and rubber seals re-used. Also be prepared for a delay in getting the replacement top back on, as it does NOT come painted! It arrives in primer and has to be sent out to the paint shop for the color and clear coat. This is a real pain. Dealers doing the repair should have a "loaner" top for someone to use while theirs is getting set up.

Can anyone confirm for me that the final 'fix' for the steering is a retaining clip?

I know this is what it was earlier, but since the recall has been issued is this still the fix or is something else now done?

Thanks

There is a newer recall dated 5/3/2010 that is supposed to replace the SWPS.
