c6 convertible electric Top? reset possible?
Today I was working on my car so I opened the top halfway to keep the deck lid open. After awhile the convertible top just fell to its "up" position.
After fiddiling I could not get it to work with the button so I had todo the manually by release the hydralic pressure, with the allen wrench.
This was easy to do and easy to fix.
BUT now I cant get the button to do anything, it wont go up or down. the Electric Top does nothing.
Is there away to "reset" the top? or how do I fix this?

Power Window Initialize
After a power reconnect such as battery replacement,
the window index-up feature will not function until
the system is initialized. Once power is restored,
do the following:
1. Close the door.
2. Raise the window by pulling up the switch.
3. Hold the up switch for three seconds after the
window is closed. Release the switch.
4. Hold the up switch again for three seconds
and release.
Good luck.

Tikiman12,
The top will NOT work until you re-index the windows.
If you have disconnected the battery, or some "other" failure has happened, and the top does not go up/down.....

I had the same issue long time ago when I disconnected my batterie to remove the passenger seat. I get board from the manual process of opening & closing my vette top. After that I forget the issue for two weeks without doing the manual process. Later when I tried the convertible top button It was working fine. At that time I wasn’t aware about the windows re-indexing.
Good luck

Check the partition in the trunk, where it snaps in on the passenger side their is a switch on that tab make sure it is pushed in . You can pull the switch out, I forget it if you should keep the wires tied together or separate them try both and see if top works
THis is a safety thing that will not let the top work if the partition is off the switch, so that you do not crush the top if something was in the way in the trunk

this is old, but I took my vette for a some body work, top not working now. I guess I reindexed the windows still nothing. I start car in park crack top, windows go down, then push button nothing happens...do I need to disconnect reconnect the battery, or do I need to go to the dealer.

As was mentioned in the old thread, make sure your trunk partition is snapped into place and fully seated to depress the interlock switch.
There are also some fuses in the passenger footwell to check as well.

Thanks guys, you save me a panic attack. I have been fighting with a starting problem for over a week and decided to put the top up. Got in and nothing, not a sound. I searched the site, found this thread, re-indexed my windows and up the top came just like always. Who would think window equals not convertible top. This car is like inspector gadgets watch. So many little tricks and tweaks and other stuff to fix other stuff. Glad you guys and the forum is here, really saves a lot of panic and anxiety. God knows what a dealer would have charged to fix it when all it needed was the windows indexed.

This thread has been resurrected a number of times but I think it's important to understand why the windows must be indexed to get the top to work. Indexing the windows tells the computer what the position of the window is. This way the computer can know whether to move the window down slightly when the door is opened or not. It will only move the window down slightly when the door is opened if the window is all the way up. That said, the computer also wants to put the windows all the way down before it will move the convertible top. This is probably for safety reasons. The only way that the computer can make sure the windows are all the way down before moving the top is to have them indexed so that it knows their positions. It keeps the positions in memory and loses that memory when the battery is disconnected.

It would have been great if GM had provided a DIC warning that the windows needed to be indexed.
It's the one thing that will prevent the top from moving without any warning message.
