Melting Slicks

Mine just showed up today. I'm impressed with the quality of the molded snorkel, and the ultra-slick coating on the inside. I guess I assumed it would be plain plastic inside, but this is very nice attention to detail for better airflow.
I really like how this system cleans up the appearance of the engine bay too.
Now I just have to get the car (picking it up Sunday!!).

Yup, it's a nice piece, especially for the money

Chip, forgive my ignorance on this. I like this intake but I have a question. How does this intake work with the 'black box' in the photo that I have circled?
I notice that there is an outlet that connects to the stock air intake throat. Does that serve a purpose or is that removed? I have seen photos of engines where the 'black box' seems to be missing.

Goes away with install of intake.
It's kind of a part anyways.
It will go in the can when you're done

Here are Airaids numbers on a Z06
Typically we see about half of that chart for a intake only. You will feel
a big difference in throttle response and "tip in" (from a stop)

With this intake system, is there a greater danger of the engine sucking water when driving thru puddles (e.g. after a hard rain)?
I don' wan' no mo' hydrolocking. Been there, not fun.

The syntha max is interesting. I like the idea of no oil to potentially affect the mass air meter. How does the filtering efficiency compare to the oiled unit? Is there any downside in comparison?
