Chip this has a MAF section on it right or do you use the stock one? If a new one is it larger than the stock size?

Mine just showed up today. I'm impressed with the quality of the molded snorkel, and the ultra-slick coating on the inside. I guess I assumed it would be plain plastic inside, but this is very nice attention to detail for better airflow.

I really like how this system cleans up the appearance of the engine bay too.

Now I just have to get the car (picking it up Sunday!!).

I'm number 3 on the LS3 bolt-on list with this intake. Number 1 in mph. Ran 125.83 mph with it! Can't be too bad an intake.

Chip, forgive my ignorance on this. I like this intake but I have a question. How does this intake work with the 'black box' in the photo that I have circled?

I notice that there is an outlet that connects to the stock air intake throat. Does that serve a purpose or is that removed? I have seen photos of engines where the 'black box' seems to be missing.

Air Silencer-

Goes away with install of intake.

It's kind of a part anyways.

It will go in the can when you're done

Default What type of improvement Numbers?

Hi Chip,
Have you done any Dyno test?
What can I expect to see for a 2006 C6 (A6) car?
Thanks,
Gordy

Gordy,

Here are Airaids numbers on a Z06

Typically we see about half of that chart for a intake only. You will feel
a big difference in throttle response and "tip in" (from a stop)

Peace

With this intake system, is there a greater danger of the engine sucking water when driving thru puddles (e.g. after a hard rain)?

I don' wan' no mo' hydrolocking. Been there, not fun.

Airaid has two offerings

The STD Filter that needs Oiling
and
The Synthamax Filter that does not need oil

You can tell by looking at the stock number 250- is the oiled one
251- is the non-oiled one

Not an issue with this filter.

It sits where the OEM air box is

The syntha max is interesting. I like the idea of no oil to potentially affect the mass air meter. How does the filtering efficiency compare to the oiled unit? Is there any downside in comparison?
