I'm giving some consideration to headers on my 2012 GS I just picked up. The cash on hand situation is not the best right now though. Will I still see good performance improvements with the base cat back (non NPP) And will your system mate up with it or are mods in order?
Headers and a cat back while desirable, are not in the budget.

Many people put them on with out changing their stock mufflers
and
They will bolt right up to your existing set up.
Keep in mind you will need a tune...

I just had ARH headers installed on my 2013 GS last week. It's married to a Corsa X and Sport rear exhaust. I am blown away by the sound difference since the headers went on. Here is a quick vid of my CRM tune a couple of days ago. It was 95 degrees in the shop but we still managed 390 RW HP. I know that colder weather is worth at least 10 more so very happy with the bolt on's so far.

When I had the LS2 with only a 2800 converter, & Headers it ran 11.59.. I'll be going to Atco March 7th (weather permitting) and see if I can get into the 10 sec zone... But as you said stock mufflers are NOT going to KILL a lot of ET... Yes I'm sure I'm leaving a little on the table by not going to a race muffler, but on a HOT 90 deg NJ day in Aug. its nice to turn on the AC and listen to the Rolling Stones on my CD and NOT have to listen to that dreaded drone !!

My 403" ci LS2 made 477 HP last week, when it was stock ci (364) I ran 11.59 @ 118 mph I'm making about 100 more HP now, and am hoping to see a 10 sec run...
Cartek was so sure I'd be in the 10's they had a a nice 5pt chrome molly roll bar installed
I'll let you guys know how the new motor runs "IF" the weather cooperates on March 7th when I'm going to Atco for a Test & Tune...

So if I were to want everything kept stock including my 2011 muffler setup with NPP these would bolt right up eh? and to keep it saleable in the future I suppose I would want the "with cats" model correct?
This would be the only mod I am willing/gonna make so what size piping recommended? Then a tune is in order.
I do not want to compromise the reliability or create any overheating issues as I live in the desert
Thanx

be behind the axle
I would get the cats - High Flow Cats these days flow really well and
are not that much different than no cats.
With an LS3, you can do 1-7/8 no problem

I put a Corsa exhaust on my '12 Z06 last year, and now thinking I'd like to add headers. I put on the Corsa 14331 X-pipe, with 14164BLK axle-back. Is what I read correct, in that I will need to replace the X-pipe? Can you tell me what I would need?

Been a Vette fan forever, but just beginning to tap into performance products. Can you tell me what to expect with the addition of headers on a C6 Z06?
Also, it seems most go for the 1-7/8 x 3", but what is the difference in results compared with the 2 x 3"? This is for a street car, non-racing.

Hi Chip, I need to ask a couple novice questions...

You can expect 40-50 HP and roughly the same Torque increase with
a tune (you need to tune with Long Tube Headers) because the car
will run to lean if you don't.
The gain actually feels like more because the HP and Torque come
on lower in the RPM range
You are right - 1-7/8 is plenty for a non FI car (Turbos/Supercharger)
With 2" you would probably drop some Torque. Even with heads and
a cam, you will be fine with 1-7/8.

Thank you, one last question, on the tune... I've read all over the place about tuning. I live 2+ hours from a shop, and even at that, I wouldn't know where to start. Is the DiabloSport inTune (or another similar programmer) reliable for the above application? Or am I going to need to search out a shop to take the car to?
It is a pretty standard mod, so you don't need a complicated tune.
The best thing to do is send your ECU to Chris and Doug at East
Coast Supercharging. They will flash it for you and send it back.
Should be somewhere around $150. Best thing to do is to call them
and talk to them, they will walk you through it. Simply unplug the
harness, 4 bolts and stick it in the mail...

Chip,
Thanks for your help. One last question... What's the typical installation like? I'll have to ask around, but I'm not sure there's an experienced shop near me, so I'd either make the install a DIY project - if that is feasible - or I'll need to take the car a couple hours away to a STL or KC shop, which presents its own issues.

The hand held tuners won't do what you need...

One goes in from the top, the other from the bottom. To get the
bottom one in you need the front of the car at least 30" off the ground,
which is not really safe to do without a lift.
Shop time for an experienced shop would be 3-4 hours labor...
