VIDEOs are worth a thousand words on here! Here you go, cruising around 1000-1400rpm's at 30-40mph

I actually bought a larger cam to begin with, but John@21st Century talked me out of it before we started and recommended going with this one which is fairly moderate in size. His company and crew puts drivability first in their builds.

Nice power, any plans to take it to the drag strip?

Excellent results

It settles the debate that a 227 cam and bigger can hit 500rwhp.

For anyone seeing the split and not feeling good about subjective driveability statements, the 227/239 is a 5 degree overlap cam and very much will drive near perfect. The math agrees with the subjective comments.

I want to thank every one for the comments! A lot of time/effort/money/testing of parts went into this combo as well as the many people I asked advice from over the last few months leading up to this install.

Many on here live by the "larger is always better" mentality, but after talking to Spin and other various tuners on here...that is why I chose the 1 3/4" LG Super Pro headers w/ the 32" long primaries for a broader TQ curve and really wanted to stay with a moderate size cam.

The amazing thing is that you picked up big from 2,500-7,000rpm's by changing from a 230 XFI/234 XE-R to a 227/239. So with less intake duration you made 23 more hp up top and the bigger split gave you a huge bump all the way through the powerband right from the bottom end. Is that cam on modded XFI or LSL lobes? I'm pretty certin it isn't XE-R since less people use those in LS3 applications versus the other two since they seem to make more power at a given intake duration - even though the XE-R are still great lobes. I don't think that I would want to run any more lift than this though those are some fast ramps. Overall it is close to what I expected from the swap

Sounds amazing, incredible low speed manners...enjoy and be proud of a great set of mods! No doubt the car is probably mind boggling when the revs climb...

That water in the cup video is cool....for some OCD guys, it is braver than doing the mods themselves... LOL

Geez, I miss my car sooooo much

Congrats on 500 RWHP. The car seems pretty docile in the videos so it looks like a great package well tuned.

Even though this is a cam only car with great numbers......could it have hit 500 without the FAST 102 intake? Did the FAST intake helped at all on peak or midrange? What would had happened without the FAST 102. Sorry guys, I just thought we were missing something here. Just wondering what my car would do with the 230/234 and the added FAST 102 intake. Thanks

I believe 21st Century has noticed between 485-490hp/437-445tq without the Fast 102mm intake/TB and underdrive pulley. They are very costly mods to attain that last few HP to get to the 500 mark you could say.

After the install was over I sat down with John (owner) and Matt (tuner) to discuss the results. They mentioned, the Fast Intake did help the HP on the top end to inch by the 500 mark, but the most notable gains were in the midrange power curve compared to other cars without a Fast and this same cam! They were VERY impressed the power curve of the setup and the smaller 1 3/4" LG (with longer than usual 32" primaries) can also be contributing factor to the impressive low end TQ.

OBSSSD@work, I'm not a 100% sure on the "XER" lobe...you would need to call John@21st on that question. I did ask him and was thinking he mentioned XER lobes were used.

His car did 478rwhp with the Spin cam and the 102mm intake. The thread got locked but you can search it and read through it easy enough. Another person who did the 227/239 cam without the intake did pull 495rwhp so I'm not sure how much the intake helps peak numbers.

Those are excellent results. I think that cam uses the LSL lobes. The 500hp is great but the 460 rwtq is really impressive.
