Default Ceramic coated headers safe with Cat?

Gang,

I'm looking into the option of ceramic coating my long tube kooks (with cats & x-pipe) before I install them.

In searching for local shops that can do the coating, I encountered a couple random posts where people warned that ceramic coated headers would destroy the catalytic converters.

Is it true that ceramic coated headers and cats are a no-no together?

Any feedback is most appreciated...

thx,
ando

I've never heard that and both of my cars have ceramic coated headers and cats.

Nope..coating the cats is fine..though I don't really recommend it since there is no performance gain.

I destroyed two sets of cats. I'm running LG Pro LTs that are ceramic coated. A&A found the first one (Both cats) when doing a SC upgrade. They replaced them and the replacements went as well. I can't say the coated headers were the cause. I put the blanks in and never figured out what the cause was.

Normally cats will fail because of an incorrect engine calibration that is too lean or too rich. A tuner will never admit this, but you normally can tell by looking at the cats what the cause was.
