Did a search could not find any information...

Can any one confirm that the GM Power Steering Fluid Part #89020661 is The Non Synthetic Type.

Thanks for the help.

Out of pure curiosity, why do you care if it is synthetic or not?

I have been told if you use synthetic steering fluid when it calls for non synthetic it may damage the seals of the P/S pump...Just making sure I use the correct type fluid

Let's give the guy a little help here since we don't know what he's got; and he's in South Africa. Senna, I'd suggest directing your question to someone like GM parts vendor Gene Culley here on CF. Tell him your model/year, and possibly vin, too.

I was trying but you did a much better more direct attack on the problem.

FWIW: Senna, I have a bottle of this and read the label.
No where on the the label does it say it is synthetic.

All is says in regards to your question is contents: Petroleum oil.

In service manual, I could find no mention of synth, just use the proper fluid else seal damage and fluid leaks will occur.

If you can not get this exact part number in your country, again FWIW I always believed the PS fluid was not synth. Else, get the GM stuff, in US it is about $10 a quart.

Lastly, contacting Gene or the like may be worth your time to find the equivilents of the GM part number oil specifications/ ratings.

Thanks for the referrals. The OP contacted me and I gave him the correct answer.
