Default Any California residents with Lingenfelter N/A setups?

Hey guys, how's it going? New member here and this is my 1st question. I'm interested in either the Lingenfelter 630hp or 660hp N/A engine packages. But since I live in California I was wondering if either of these would pass CA smog testing? I emailed a Lingenfelter Rep and he said they had no N/A packages approved for sale in CA.

But I was also told by A&A that I could install a cam that would get me to 650hp that would pass CA smog testing. I would assume that both cams would be very similar and have similar exhaust output. I'm not very mechanically inclined so if I'm way off in my assumptions let me know. Hopefully there are some CA residents with these engine packages that can shed some light on this. Keeping this car registered is a must.

Car is 2007 Z06

Here are the specs on the two camshafts used in said engine packages:

LS1-GT19
duration: 227 / 239 @ .050
valve lift: .678" / .688"
rocker arm: 1.8 ration
centerline: 114

LS1-GT21
duration: 243 / 259 @ .050
valve lift: .691" / .702"
rocker arm: 1.8 ratio
centerline: 112

Anyone successfully pass CA smog running similar cams or more aggressive cams?

I think those are both to big. I was under impression that for the LS3 a 224-228 was about it with a 114. Maybe 30 hp. No prof just from my research.

Even with the best tune in the world the GT-21 would never come close to passing Ca smog. The GT-19 could be tuned to pass the sniffer test. However, you would have to find a mod friendly smog place that is willing to ignore the massive lope coming from your ZO6. Which has gotten harder to do in recent years sine C.A.R.B. started cracking down on smog shops.

Maybe just have them install a friendly cam. Your still have good power with the cubic inch displacement.

I run the GT-19 and don't think there is ANY way you are getting that one to pass. I run w/o cats ( because I can in teh county I live) and sometimes wish I took the time to install them during the off season.

I'f you want 650 hp, I AND pass emissions you may be looking at FI.

The GT-11 cam/ LPE heads have proven 500 RWHP on a LS3 or two locally..... and is barely noticeable.

Or the OP would need to temporarily raise the idle to 900 rpm and then put it back to 750 - 800 once inspected.

I'm having a hard time thinking you can go from 505 HP stock to 650 HP without headers and have a cam that is emissions friendly. That is a big gain and would require serious head work or more cubes. An A&A blower seems like the best solution for a do it once and not worry solution.

So did I, that's why I made this thread. I emailed A&A and they told me I could get cammed to 650hp and still pass CA emissions. I'm sure A&A knows what theyre talking about. Unless it was a typo lol. Either way, it sounds like FI is going to be the sure, safe option for me. There's one sure thing, Cali sux for their crap emissions laws.

Ahem:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/sout...ffer-test.html

Starting in 2013 any 2000 model year and up car no longer has to pass a sniffer test. Put whatever you want in it! Just find a "friendly" smog shop that isn't **** about the visual.

How often do you get tested? If he gets smog tested this year before the mods, he could be fine if it is every two years.

He's an 07 so he probably has to do the sniffer once in 2012 then he's safe. I believe first smog is 5 years after you buy a new car.

I just had a smog test in late December (when I bought the Z). Next one will be in 2012. I might have to be late a couple of weeks with the next one 2013.
