08 Head/Cam LS3 hits 178.9 in the Mojave mile! {Video}
I took both my cars to the Mojave Mile last weekend. I made 2 passes in each car, and then drove them home in one peice, without a hitch! I had my buddy/Mec friend drive the 08 out there, while I drove my 98. I had a best of 203.1 MPH in the 98, and 2 passes that were 178.2 then 178.9 in the 08. The DA at the event was around 4500.
Last time I went in September, there where 4 stock Zr1s running 174 to 178 MPH. There were 2 there this time, one stock that went right around 175, and a modified one that went a best of 181 MPH. Needless to say, I was pretty happy with BOTH cars performance!!!
Big Props to Ryne at CMS for a Spot on Tune with both cars!!
Here's a video I put together from the event, it has 2 runs from the 98, and one from the 08.

Here's another short vid with the 98 and the new Contour HD GPS camera...

Jb, having done a mile event I really appreciate how much it takes to go 200+...that is very impressive! And 179 is crazy fast too from a ls3, particularly from a ls3. Shifting looks great too.
And as usual love the vids! Though no sound on my iPad from Vimeo. Will check tomorrow from a PC as the sound is more than half the fun for me.
Thanks for posting.

Sounds like you should check it out, because I don't recall anybody at the Texas Mile beating that. I'm not sure about the Maxton Mile, and the Miami mile times were questioned.
Note, I'm not questioning Hinson's Ford GT, just saying others have.
I really have never seen a post above 200mph for a c5.

A c5 with I think twin turbos went 204 at the Miami mile.
