To remedy this, buy starter heat shielding wrap, cut into strips, wrap about 3 to 4 layers thick and secure with zip ties and heat tape.

Bottom line is you can't beat this for the money.
slave cylinder hose, yeah wish i had know to get that out of the way... $1600 at local chevy. get that hose at least a quarter inch off/away from the drivers side header

Lol, only if you chose to make all of the additions you did. You managed to add ~500+ bucks on top of what the OBX cost (assuming you must have catted headers). 750+ over what uncatted OBX cost.

Yes, if for some reason you need them coated the price comes closer. I don't know why a muffler shop has to fit up the cats that come with the system for 100 bucks, and gaskets/clamps are a preference. I know several people running the stock gaskets and the clamps that came with the system with no issue.

The fact of the matter is that MANY people can get OBX for 650 bucks shipped and make as much power as headers that cost twice as much.

Show me how the person who doesn't want cats (not going to run cats with a supercharger and blow them out) and doesn't want to waste money on coating (ARH and Kooks have both said it's pointless unless you have a racecar) can get one of the big names for under 700 bucks new.

Ya, I'm not sure where the prices are being quoted but the place I bought mine from has not changed their prices.

It's still $600 for non-catted and $750 for catted. Add another $25 for shipping.

Commercial posting

Members are not prohibited from mentioning it when they have a good (or bad, for that matter) experience with a non-supporting vendor. But such mentions cannot be so specific (address, phone number, e-mail address, URL, price, part number, offer to send contact information via PMs, etc.) or so frequent that they become marketing and promotional references.

It appears that a Forum Vendor has been offended that a product is available and cheaper than thiers. I am still debating on buying the OBX header but it is obvious that these vendors can see that the general public/consumer is questioning the current asking prices for header systems and using this forum as a tool to seek other alternatives when purchasing a product that often exceeds $ 1600.00 . I can only hope that they will soon adjust prices to move them from the shelves to the streets. The corvette tax is ridiculous when it comes to certain items.
NO VENDORS WERE HARMED BY THIS POST NOR DIRECTLY MENTIONED BY NAME AND NO NON FORUM VENDOR WAS MENTIONED OR PROMOTED. So please do not delete this post.

May I just ask what you are debating as far as any header system? I have nothing to gain but I love the sound of the catless headers with the borla s type 2s. When my girlfriend and I first took the car for a ride after putting on the headers we both just looked at each other and smiled... she is a car fan too. She said "now thats what its supposed to sound like."
I agree with her and you can really feel breathing or exhaling, as it may be, a hell of a lot better. The car doesn't feel as sluggish as it did before, the rpms just shoot up, lots of fun... and noise. they are not so loud if you are not getting on it all the time, but when you do

The debate is the OBX catted system appears to only be a resonator and I have read that it will not pass emissions and this is on a website that sells these systems . I would like to install a system with an off road pipe but here in PA they sniff check for the yearly STATE inspection. I am not wanting to purchase an OBX system if it will not pass the state inspection . The debate with other brands of headers is the absurd cost to power ratio. I know that the sound of a header is like sex but I may just hold off till a used set comes up for sale or the prices drop to a reasonable dollar amount. Who knows I may be waiting a while....

The OBX w/cats does actually have cats. Their "off road" version has resonators that take the place of the cats. They look the same on the outside.

[QUOTE=black.z51.c6;1582478982]I do not want to get into a battle as I think that you are right on that it is not that big a differance in prices, maybe 700 or so but the obx fit fine for me, no welding, bending, or cutting... That said, if money was no problem I would have bought the kooks or american racing, or even lg.... But I am telling you that the fit and finish was great with the obx, nothing appeared cheap about the headers, very, very solid with great welds. The hardware left something to be desired but I think I spent maybe 20 bucks upgrading the springs, bolts, nuts, and washers. Also used two new manifold gaskets, even though the originals would have been fine. Used the extra 700 to upgrade my stereo]

Had mine year and half now, just as good *** when I first bought them. Used the extra 650 to go towards the ported fast. The headers really are great quality for the money, I have made A believer out of everyone who lifts my hood and rides in my car. They really are a bargain

This x2. I've had numerous people take a look and say "damn those fit and look so much better than my ________ headers. "

Why would you put OBX headers on a GS? That's like putting cheap tires from China on them... t
