Default tire ? for base c6 DRs

What I'm trying to figure out is wanna run 17x9.5s offset is 54mm on the rims I'm looking at for the rear. I'm at 752rwhp been running street tires on my 19s is a waste of time for traction. Want to know go 275/40/17 or bump up to 295/45/17? It's a street car hardly will be at the track plus it's a M6. The wheels are repo c6z06 wheels. The car is a base model with base fenders. Question too is will those 295/45/17 rub? Or stick out of the fenders with that offset? Thanks in advance.

Don't know about the 295's, but the 275s work great for a setup like yours.

I have this set up stacked at 510 race engineering in case anyone wants to buy them. 275/45-17 Hoosier on the back rims and GTO spares with M&H shinnies. The shinnies are brand new and the Hoosiers are at least 70%.

You can run the 315-17 Hoosier on the back with the C5ZO6 wheel.

^Don't wanna run the c5z06 wheel...not much help man. Can pm me pics of your setup n price though for the fronts. Reason is the 315s aren't a bad idea I just want to mainly know if the 295/45/17 fits a c6 with that backspacing

Here they are. I just put them on and was messing around with a suspension adjustment and some VHT trac bite. I knew they would not hook on my street but I wanted to see if they grabbed better.

I have some brand new 295/45 17 MT's for sale. They come with some ugly assed F body rims. Works great on a narrow body C6. Bolt them on and go. I'll take the new price of the new tires and throw the rims in for free. They are mounted, balanced, and ready to go. I bought the new tires back in the fall, lost my mind and bought a new Grand Sport shortly after. Found out a couple of weeks ago that the F body rims won't clear the GS brakes.

The 295/45r17 M/T fit as "winters97gt" ran them on his C6 that made ~800rwhp and went 9.6@146 on them. There was also a supercharged C6 that went 9.7@144 recently on the 275/40r17 Hoosier, but the track prep better be stellar. The 315/35 don't really give you a lot more contact patch on a 9.5" rim, but do give you a little more height than the 275/40 being squeezed on there.

Since this is mainly a street car, better to go with MT's. They are heavier than Hoosiers, but that's because they have more tread thickness and will last longer.
You won't get enough bite on the street to make a difference no matter what brand or size you run.

The 9.5 x 17 wheels with 54mm offset will work fine on the back. Skinnies on the front at the track are good, but don't try using them on the street. Way too dangerous and the wear factor will make your wallet pucker.

Hoxx So they won't stick out with the 295/45/17s ? Will I have rubbing issues? Since they are taller than factory sized 285/35/19s? My car is just lowered on factory bolts Which don't do much at still have a lot of room to go fender height wise. Was just worried bc I'd like to run a taller tire for more bite and run the MTs bc of traction. I would only run skinnies at the track anyway.

The rims I'm selling with the tires are the actual ones winters97gt used on those 9 second runs. As I mentioned, they're pretty ugly, but effective....and do have quite the history.

Agree on the Hoosiers too. I just bought a set of 335/30 18's. There really isn't much to them. When I first picked one up after they were delivered, my first thought was, "damn, I'm going to attempt to go 135 to 140 mph on these light things?" They were a hundred bucks a tire cheaper than similar sized MT's. Now, I know why. I'd bet the MT's would last several times longer than the Hoosiers.

That's cool, Mark's a great guy and I too always choose function over looks when budget conscious.

If it's a manual car I like how much softer the sidewalls are on the Hoosiers than the M/T DR personally, but I only used them at the track and swapped them there.
